Why would we hire a coach that was not that great at Ole Miss despite hiring hookers and paying players?

We should stay as far away from this hire as we can, especially with potential violations on the horizon.


P.S. He did win the Grant Teaff Coach of the Year Award in 2014 from FCA. I think Grant would probably like the award back after his issues came to light.

Nothing about this is a repeat of 16. Except everyone then wanted an assistant named HC. That is pretty typical. Hell Steele's players didn't want us to fire Steele. That is who they wanted for Hc. But otherwise nothing is even similar. Stop the drama.

Why is he the best coach for 2021-2025? I understand how someone might think he's the best option for 2020, but what about beyond next year?

He's not keeping the good part of the staff together and he hasn't recruited well. He doesn't have the experience. What's the benefit beyond the current players want him?

Not that great? He paid the right players because they beat Bama in back to back years, and if not for the flukiest of plays in football history against Arkansas, they would have most likely made the playoffs.

Edit: I'm not advocating for Freeze, but they were really really good for a couple of seasons (most likely because of the paid players)

He had a worst winning percentage than our coach with the highest winning percentage, Art Briles. (I went back and checked Rhule's and Teaff's percentage, so please do not derail the thread into one about Art Briles.) He inherited a much better team than Art did also.

They beat Bama, and that is a feat. He did it by buying high recruiting classes. He still could not win 2/3's of his games though.

There is no way we will hire someone who used hookers and hired them for recruits. Burner phones. If this guy would have been at Baylor and not a part of the SEC network, ESPN would have blown this up.
