I know of at least one other, so there are probably others too.

There is a lot of envy here. I get it; I'm envious too. But as the other poster noted, Rhule is in greater than the top 1 % of his profession. From what I can tell he has worked hard and earned it. I'm glad he took us on part of his ride.

I'm also glad we live in a society that is rich enough that we can put that kind of premium on entertainment.

And we should all give thanks to Donald Trump for creating an economy where this type of wealth is possible,
Trump created the American economy? What sort of idiotic spillover from R&P is this? Sure, history started in 2016.

I am glad that we live in the society we do, with all of its injustices, it's still pretty amazing for everyone. Sure, some have it way better, but it will always be that way. Not to say we can't work on it. The American dream is the idea that everyone has a shot to live their dream life, and unfortunately, not everyone gets that chance.

That said, football is ridiculous, and the idea that we paid Rhule what we did is also ridiculous. Football is entertainment, otherwise you'd see a lot more great minds in football, for that kind of money. The 1 in 100k talk is absolutely ridiculous. To do what Rhule did, you probably only need to be 1 of 10,000, and you'd also need to get as lucky as he got.

For a guy I've watched spit up on his smock bib several times, he did pretty well, but he's just coaching football, no matter how much money he has. Good for him, but it's not a life I envy.

I admire the hell out of their rags to riches upbringing, but you can see how a few shifts at Chili's had an effect on Mrs. Rhules decorating choices.

FYI, More than half of NFL players are broke by age 50.
And coaches aren't as far behind in that figure as you might think, there are quite a few spacious, empty mansions in college towns that are the product of coaches that poured their money into towns where few buyers could afford the price tag. There are certainly worse things to spend money on and Rhule should be basically set for life, but this is a lot of house.

It's usually the coach's wife that wants the massive house.

Back when the neighborhood had like 2 houses built, I used to go out to the vacant lot next to Rhule's house and look over the Bosque river valley below. Pretty scenic spot and I told my girlfriend at the time (now my wife) that one day we'd live there.

That lot is still vacant. And I'd still need to win the lotto before being able to build a house on it.

Yeah... but it improves greatly with Arby's, a goat sofa and a properly appointed safe room.

Don't know if true but hearing a former Baylor football player is buying the house.....he has played in the NFL thus sounds like he might be a cash buyer!

Is he working on being broke by the time he's 50?

Actually if it is who I think it is he invested wisely and can easily pay cash. I heard this person took some very smart positions in a few big name stocks thus sure he is doing quite well.

Give it a few months to close, then swing by the house and go knock on the door. See who answers.

Hey, it's all about the process pal. And the process is you bust your ass and buy my wife the house of her dreams because she doesn't like Texas.

Still, with a house that size in a market like Waco, it makes me believe he thought he was here for the long haul. The 11 win season was a surprise (and it was).

But, then again, he interviewed after season 1.

Good points. It's contradictory at best, but that house is an indication of commitment on some level.

I personally do not think it is smart to buy a house like this in the Waco area unless you plan on owning it for life and leaving it to your kids. Rhule may be very lucky with this former player potential buyer. Because selling something like this in Waco would be very difficult and typically take a really long time if it did get sold.

With a $60M guaranteed contract, I think he's going to be ok either way.

For anyone who thinks that Matt Rhule was the one in the family who selected that house......I've got some land for sale that you'd really be interested in. Great price, I have pictures, and we can handle the entire deal remotely via PayPal. PM me......
