BREAKING: Baylor adds WR Cam Bonner over A&M, Utah and Arizona

On Monday morning, just two days before the December signing period is set to begin, Baylor added a commitment from Houston (TX) St. Thomas Catholic School wide receiver Cameron Bonner‍.

Bonner totaled over 2,000 yards receiving during his junior and senior seasons at St. Thomas.

Bonner chose Baylor over offers from Arizona, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Utah, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and others. 

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound prospect finished his senior season with 35 receptions for 754 yards and eight touchdowns in seven games. As a junior Bonner caught 49 passes for 1,249 yards and 12 touchdowns. Over his final two seasons at St. Thomas, Bonner averaged 23.9 yards per reception.

Bonner becomes commit number 17 in the 2021 class and is the fourth wide receiver in the class joining Javon Gipson‍, Elijah Bean‍ and Monaray Baldwin‍ 

BAYLOR 2021 COMMITMENT LIST

Bonner earned his Baylor offer on Feb. 11 and then visited Baylor back in March for Junior Day right before the dead period was imposed due to COVID-19.

You proved me wrong, huh? Smith posted a 118.9 passer rating, got benched and transferred out after his one season with Denzel Mims. In what world was he made to look good? He had one good game against a bad Oklahoma defense ... and still lost. You're a clown.

No, I think Mims was a great weapon. But if it was all Mims, the other three Baylor quarterbacks that played during Charlie's time here would have experienced similar success.

Charlie struggled this year because he was stuck in a ****ty scheme behind a ****ty line and asked to do things that don't fit his skill set. You blame Charlie for that. I don't. And when you see our quarterbacks struggle again next year in this pop gun offense and Charlie bounce back at his next stop, you'll see why.

I actually don't put all the O struggles this year on Charlie. The o line was for lack of better wording god awful. I've acknowledged that.

On whether he's Melvin's son, the article did say ambiguously that "family and friends" attended Baylor and the commitment video indicated that his dad played in the NFL. Circumstantial evidence, but no indication.
