I hope he isn't running up the white flag. I guess this is his attempt to say everything is ok for four more years.
You're misreading this badly. What he's saying is that Texas and OU are either going to pay us the money they owe us to get out of this league or they're going to be stuck here through the remainder of the GoR deal they agreed to.

Exactly. If Texas and OU really want out, the path is clear. But they're going to line our pockets first, and there's no reason whatsoever to let them off the hook or settle for less than they owe contractually.

Quotes from Kevin Sherrington

Now that Bob Bowlsby has gone Network and essentially declared he's not going to take ESPN's money a

Because as fun as it was to see ESPN called out for its excesses, you've still got to pay the bills.
These are the words of a fool who is long past his prime.

The mistake Kevin is making is to assume that the media pays the bills. They don't. The schools and the fans pay the bills. That's why soccer is a global sport. Because children in every corner of the globe want to wear that jersey. Whether rich or poor.

The second flawed assumption he is making is that the league itself is the attraction and that simply pairing up two schools equals success. It makes sense that he thinks that way, he's just trying to get a good seat in the stadium and anoint himself an expert. He's wrong in that too.

The problem is, no one wants to lose. And schools like Texas are too scared to play anyone even, they want slanted matchups with undermanned teams and they want free reign to price competition out of the market. Not only are fans fed up with it, they won't support it. Regardless of your education level, people can spot a fraud. Fifteen seasons of telling us Texas is back and they think we cant see through the manipulation?

It doesn't bother me that Texas and Ou want to leave. It saddens me that a sport that once thrived in this country, is being torn apart by a few greedy administrators and a corrupt network.

This isn't in the best interest of the State of Texas.

If Texas, and Texas A&M were flagships...

TCU, SMU, Baylor, and Rice would not have over 40k students.

People vote with their feet.

It's very wise to say they plan to be in B12 until 2015 (even if they aren't) while letting the people at ESPN do the dirty work of trying to destabilize the B12 before then.

Like I previously mentioned, the newest statement from the Big XII confirms that nothing will come from this. Even if Texas and OU leave after this season, this won't even be mentioned in the present tense past August.

The Okie legislature is alive and kicking. I think the Texas gang is at the Luling Watermelon festival.

This isn't done yet.

Sadly, it is. This is all bluster.

Truckloads of cash seem to improve one's ability to cope with/ignore the disappointment of others.

If the Legislators sent the message then perhaps that is why Zero U said they wanted to continue Bedlam. We all know the only reason they want to continue Bedlam is the atrocious series record. 90-18-7.

The only reason they came out publicly and said they wanted to keep Bedlam is so they can blame OSU when that series ends.

Oh no! Not a letter!

This will lead to nothing. Nothing is going to happen. We won't be talking about this by the end of August.

I think both came to an understanding. Maybe some reassurances from ESPN.

I think the reality is that going to war with ESPN was not in the big 12's long-term interests, even if ESPN did something that could give rise to civil liability. The big 12's diminishing value is only further diminished if the major media investor in college football is at enmity with us. ESPN has all the leverage in this dispute because the Big 12 needs ESPN much more than ESPN needs the Big 12, and they know it.

From a conference realignment speculator, so grain of salt and al that. But here's a nugget:

So what happened to the smoking gun that Bowlsby kept saying he had??
RedBear05

ESPN probably promised him some kind of high-paying do-nothing job in the future after the Big12 finally gets rid of him. I doubt ESPN has any reassurances on the Big12 itself.
