And also multiple losing sports teams. I've not researched it, but I suspect that KU has the worst sports record of all combined sports of any P5 school, as the only sport that it is good at is men's BB.

And I suppose that Baylor could post an add about the "Waco/Dallas/Fort Worth/Austin" market.

Good grief.

Rutgers says hi (don't forget that KU played Rutgers in football 2 years ago and beat them by 25).

Rutgers just hired Greg Schiano back and saw dramatic improvement in Year 1. He'll have them competitive in a couple of years.

We'll see if Leipold can do the same thing in Lawrence.

That banner wins joke of the month. Damn near spit out my Dr Pepper reading it. Particularly the part about "multiple winning sports teams". Lawrence would have to include all of Missouri

They were including the 2015 Royals and 2019 Chiefs.

In Missouri. Not Kansas.

No doubt they were thinking of the KC Chiefs who won a Super Bowl a couple years ago with a QB from Texas.

The tweet mentioned a Kansas City. It might be in another state, but they are considering Lawrence a part of KC's metropolitan area.

There is a Kansas City, Kansas that has nothing but probably BBQ. The pro teams are in Kansas City, MO.

Metropolitan area

When the tweet mentioned Kansas City, it was the one with an NFL franchise, not a suburb.

KC Kansas doesn't have the sports teams due to Kansas Being a dry state when they first came, no longer a dry area though so Chiefs and Royals have at times pushed the idea of moving when the state money was short of what they were wanting.

Lawrence is 40 miles from downtown KC (MO). McKinney is 33 miles from downtown Dallas, and no one would have a problem with McKinney saying they are part of the Dallas metro area (I know DFW is different than KC, not making that argument). Rosenberg is 37 miles from downtown Houston and Texas City is 44 miles from downtown Houston and both are considered part of the Houston MSA.

It isn't that far fetched for KU to lump themselves in with a major MSA that is less than 40 minutes away. A lot of people on here have always said Baylor's location near Dallas (95 miles) is a major advantage for the school, just as a point of reference.

You forgot to mention the new Airport Terminal. Jet service is there now and they have the highest water towe in 2 states, too! That handout says "rube" more than cosmopolitan. They should fire their PIO, nothing on that hand out moves the needle. UCF & USF in Florida have more to sell the B10 than Kansas based on that.

You're probably right, they should just sit back and let the chips fall where they may

Interesting, too, when I hear of DFW entertainment options, concerts at Winstar Casino and Choctaw Casino (both in the great state of Oklahoma) are mentioned. That's a fair distance from the Metroplex.

No, they should go for it. I just thought the hand-out made them look worse.
