Have a very good friend who is part of the corporate expansion team at Pluckers and Waco is not part of their next 5 year plan. I've implored often, and am rebuffed consistently. Not happening anytime soon unfortunately.

i would think a Pluckers would do good in Waco along I-35. the daily traffic would seem to sustain good sales,
they have a good menu

The daily traffic on 35 in the Waco area would sustain almost any chain.

Interesting. Do they have a reason as to why? Or are they just interested more in the bigger markets of DFW, Houston and San Antonio?

Oh wait I know... it's because the founders are UT grads and we keep beating them isn't it?

I like your second take there....thats the most likely explanation.

I've certainly tried to get clarification on the why, they are just superbly picky with their locations. So its either some aversion to Waco in general, OR, they just haven't found the perfect spot to actually put the restaurant. Or likely, a combination of the two. But its not on the roadmap.

I believe both the Waco city manager and various city politicians have inquired personally this very question, so, who knows what will happen in the future.

There would lots of places I would rather have in Waco than another wing bar.

I think part of that was they opened at that location about 5 years too early. Now it is taking off with the new movie theater, top golf, main event, several new apartment complexes, etc.

When they opened it was the truck stop, ihop and that was basically it.

I doubt it has to do with not finding the right spot. With the market place, the area across 6, the growth by new road, downtown and growth by campus there have been plenty of good locations for restaurants.

Karen's to me it had to be an aversion to Waco or they just think the population isn't high enough based on how they focus on large metropolitan areas.

If they would go in to the old Twin Peaks building they would PRINT money. Yes I know that building has had its issues, but I have always thought that location would be perfect for Pluckers.
PartyBear

The owner of that parcel just needs to tear the building down so someone else can start over. No one wants to buy a building in which that type of incident occurred. No one wants to go out to eat in a building where that incident occurred. It has been 7 years now and it has been vacant except for perhaps a year during which a regional chain called Louisiana Crab Shack tried to make a go at it.

I could see Pluckers at Cottonwood. They already have a Killeen location.

If Waco could franchise a "Baby Acapulco"'s (Baby-A's) from Austin, then I understand (purely anecdotally) that would be a great place to locate school teachers of a certain age attaining a certain state of relaxation.
If Pluckers comes to Waco my kids will never graduate

Sorry Tagged to wrong post but my concern still stands

Any news on the discount theater on Valley Mills? I seen they closed off the front section with plywood so now you can't see the doors or box office at all and there was a big dumpster out front.

Wasn't sure if someone is going to open it again or what

Fish City, while not Perla's, certainly looks like and improvement on what we have.

Fish City is solid. We ate there for years while living in Flower Mound. Quality standard menu and they have a rotating monthly menu they put up on a chalkboard inside the restaurant. That location also always had several taps of local beer and monthly specialty cocktails so we can assume the same for Waco.

Another Hawaiian BBQ joint coming to the area.

The article shows one coming to Harker Heights and 2 are either built/being built near campus.

Who knew there was such demand?

There's not a ton of other commerce around that New Road exit though. Flying J and…Hooters I guess. Not much else bringing people to that off ramp.

I thought that was the same exit you have to take to get to Top Golf and movie theater etc? I thought I recall the exit off of 35 to 340 and Central Texas Market place etc. is up just a little ways south from Top Golf etc.

That is correct, but you have to know to exit. You can't see anything at that intersection until you are past the exit. There is a little more to offer there now that Top Golf, Main Event, etc are there, but for a fast food restaurant that is not a destination, visibility and easy access is paramount. In addition, they have the competition of every other fast food concept being 2 exits North of them that will pull most highway traffic off before they get there.

There is a reason Carls Jr went out of business and they could not unload that building for awhile.

Ihop, Dennys, Burger King, Quick Trip, Top golf, Main Event, Cinemark, and whatever else is going into that new shopping center area. Not to mention the new apartment complex there. It was an isolated area/exit but not so much now.
