I hate these types of intersections because it creates confusion on the access roads.
For example, using that map, if I'm going east on 84 heading into Waco from McGregor and I want to go to Shipleys at the corner, there is no way to get there. I'm going to have to take a right onto Hewitt Drive and either u-turn or attempt to turn into the shopping center immediately after merging with Hewitt which - if even possible - is a wreck waiting to happen.
Same if you are going west from Waco towards McGregor and you want to go to Walgreens.
This was my thought as well, coming from towards Hidden Valley area and my first concern was morning kolache acquisition. It's already dicey enough trying to go from 84 to Hewitt Dr. and immediate left turn into the Wells Fargo parking lot to get to Shipleys, I can't imagine how brutal getting in there would be with this.
Admittedly I rarely endure the Woodway side of the frontage road (where Marco's Pizza, CVS, etc) is, but I never thought this intersection was really *that* bad.
However, Highway 6 and 84...that thing needs to be cleaned up big time. I encounter a wreck probably once a week on that off-ramp by the Whataburger on my way home, that thing sucks. And getting on highway 6 from 84 by the Valero in the morning, when that's filled with 5 semi's in a row trying to turn onto the frontage road to get on 6...just BRUTAL.
Although honestly, I vowed to never complain about Waco road infrastructure if that 84/Speegleville bridge actually came to fruition, and it was and continues to be just glorious. So...mums the word from me.
