As a Waco mason, I can tell you that it was Karem Shrine inter-lodge politics that lead to the unfortunate sale of that amazing building. Enormous, ornate ballroom where they used to hold the Cotton palace balls of my youth. Huge billiard parlor with slate tables and huge, leather chairs to sit in. Damn disgrace Waco is really losing that building to create yet another hotel, but I am glad the building is no longer vacant.
