Waco (McLennan County)The Waco City Council recently entered into an agreement with an architectural firm to design a new barn at Cameron Park Zoo.
Last month, the council agreed to a contract with Austin-based Reliance Architecture for $60,790 to design a new hoof stock barn. The contract also establishes a design contingency in the amount of $8,079, for a total not to exceed $68,869.
The new barn is one of four projects at the zoo with a combined value of $14.5 million that voters agreed to finance in a bond proposal last November.
The other three projects will include a South African black-footed penguin exhibit ($4.4 million), the education and veterinary complex ($8 million) and a $100,000 remodeling of the commissary.
The zoo will award contracts in a four-phase approach in order to give as many companies the opportunity to participate in the bidding process.
The project is expected to be constructed at a total cost of $375,000.
