How's our injury situation? Anyone back for the Texas game?

I'm going to the game today and will tell you who is not warming up if anyone.

Update 1: Just got here and Flagler and Cryer are not on the court with the team stretching and doing movements drills. Could be getting taped or stretched out behind the scene tho. Will update again.

Update 2: just read on Twitter that Cryer is 100% not playing today.

Looked freaky..like his leg just snapped running up the court.

You can find the JTT injury on YouTube. Watch at your own risk. It's stomach churning.

My non-medical professional best guess is ACL tear with some MCL and PCL damage. Which is catastrophic. Hope it's better news than that.

My heart breaks for JTT. No one worked harder to get an opportunity. This is a career-altering injury but he can still achieve his dreams. But the path just got a long longer and more arduous.

Yeah, this really sucks. He was playing so well this year and had really made some pretty enormous strides offensively. It's a shame he's going to have to watch the rest of the season and at least the start of next season.

Hopefully, after surgery and rehab, he can at least get back close to where he was athletically.

Not to jump the gun, but could any of this be contributed to the strength and conditioning coach preparation? Akinjo, Sochan, Cryer, and now JTT.

I wouldn't think these types of injuries could be. Bone injuries and ligament tears are hard to prevent. We've just had horrible luck with injuries this year.

I knew it! All the fluke injuries would have to be blamed on the coaches, somehow.

No..this could be contributed to life evening out..we have been TOO healthy the last 3 years .

Every school deals with this eventually..look at Houston. Villanova last year.

It's just 'Our Time'. Pun intended.

What do you think? I'd be curious to understand how you could think these injuries can be prevented by strength and conditioning.

Since when is asking a question putting blame?

Cryer's injury is also concerning. He had surgery to small bones in his feet where they inserted screws. He has been in pain for at 3 weeks. Why would the pain just stop?

To me it looked like he was in stride and hit a wet spot on the court or just slipped and overextened his right leg causing his left to buckle. Just a shame bc he was or is my favorite player on the team and to me he was destined to be an All-American next year. Now who knows?

So answer your own question: how in the world could all the fluke injuries be contributed to the strength and conditioning coach?

Melton is an amazing strength and conditioning coach and is one of the very best in the business.

Blame by association of a loaded question. Again the question is what exactly could be done differently to prevent these injuries, as typically when you ask a question you have some idea as to why you're asking it. So yes just asking questions can sometimes be used as a tool to apply blame.

Today's win was fantastic. Also, Dave, keep in mind that Craw wants no questions or analysis of players or coaches. However, wins by Baylor this year, since we were 15-0, in light of this year's list of injuries, are very impressive. BU MBB is 6-4 since the injuries started.

As I mentioned in the game thread, this was a classy move by Beard. This is exactly what I saw at the game. I was watching JTT as he came down the court and as soon as he crumpled, Beard was quickly at midcourt. I hate the Cows and glad we stomped them, but hats off to Beard for respecting JTT.

Multiiple knee ligaments torn for Everday Jon, per twitter. The worst-case scenario has happened. Hopefully he can make it back for 2023 - 2024 season and resume the road back to his dream of playing professionally. My heart breaks

No chance for 2022-2023?

A clean ACL would be an outside shot, multiple ligaments is an 18 to 24 month deal

So what is the status on Cryer? Is he day-to-day or is he out a couple more weeks? I have not heard much on when we anticipate his return to the lineup.

It's all pain tolerance at this point. He'll play if/when his pain threshold allows him to.

Crawfoso, are you an orthopedic physician? If not, I don't think you should be speculating on time out.
With advancements in therapies, surgical techniques, etc. recovery time for athletes has been significantly reduced over the past decade.

Are there some laser treatments that could help?

Not saying anyone's wrong or right but a lot of you are jumping the gun saying he's out a full 2 years. Now that may end being the case but the recovery time from ACL, PCL, MCL tears is rapidly decreasing. Today's athletes like I mentioned recover much much faster. Worked with a football player here at ISU that recovered and was back on the field in 6 months. His injury is more significant because he tore multiple ligaments but ruling him out until 2023-2024 this early on is just silly. Especially considering that he's an elite level athlete
