Yep, it seems that Gonzaga is the Texas of the basketball world.
For all the talk of how much better Gonzaga is than everyone else in college basketball they've only made two final fours in the past 23 years.IowaBear said:
Damm near any average P5 team is going to win 30 games in that garbage ass league. They're challenged what 3-4 times during the regular season?? They absolutely should be winning 30 games every regular season. They've been the overall 1 seed what 3-4 times? Zero titles and that trends going to continue

Basketball pundits and scribes have invested a lot of emotional capital in the little school with the funny name. They will continue to do so until until they see their dream realized.PawpaBear said:
I don't get zags being preseason rank #1 consecutive year after year.

In the United States you are allowed to have your own opinion of you who like, and who you don't.EvilTroyAndAbed said:
Wow, a lot of you people really hate Gonzaga.

Well, the Bears will have a chance to test that ranking in Dec. Gonzaga likely wins that game, unless the summer tourney helps the Bears build chemistry quickly. Zags bringing back some big pieces and adding some as well. I will be happy ti be wrong, but we have a bunch of new pieces and without JTT I am not sure what we will have at the 5 if Thamba gets in foul trouble.
George should be special and most of these early rankings are not taking into account we have essentially another top 50 recruit "coming in" just with a year of physical development and a chance to get adjusted to the speed. Optimistic that Love will be a "surprise" and nice contributor both ends of the floor.BUCANDOIT82 said:TXBEAR_bf said:

We won't have a good idea of how good we are until we see George and Love play. I am assuming JTT won't be ready by then.

If Flagler continues to improve his ball skills, could be a very good year. A little too light in the frontcourt for most of us but have to make due and hopefully JTT can make it back by Feb. Would be fresh to play out the year and not disrupt the flow. Completely understandable if they want to sit him out the full year but stranger things have happened. With JTT late in the year this team is top 3 level.
Defense is usually what takes a bit of time to develop even if the players are talented so hard to say but they both have better size than we typically have at the guard spot so the potential is there. We are going to have good size at guard.BUCANDOIT82 said:Quinton said:George should be special and most of these early rankings are not taking into account we have essentially another top 50 recruit "coming in" just with a year of physical development and a chance to get adjusted to the speed. Love and the two freshman will determine how far we can go. I've seen clips of the Freshman center and he looks like a Player.
Can lLove and George rebound and defend well enough to occasionally go with a 4 guard lineup?
I think Love will surprise and come back well but nothing is sure with ligament injuries.TXBEAR_bf said:
Agree on Love, but it is just really hard to predict how someone will come back from an injury like that. I think most people close to the program don't have JTT coming back til next season. I hope he can make it back earlier, but I think the two transfers and the freshman can keep the 4-5 spots in tact. All they have to do is be somewhat of a scoring threat, rebound and play D. None of them will be expected to score more than 8-10 points a game as a position group. Anything over that is gravy. Scoring 1-3 is going to be unreal assuming everyone stays healthy.
