Beard team claims there is a video of the incident. Apparently, it has not been provided to the Police. If it is exculpatory to him, can't understand why it is withheld. While prosecutors may be reluctant to proceed without the support of the alleged victim, there is physical evidence of an assault. Not sure if self-defense argument will stand up to evidence of a choke hold or bite marks.

I think this is hysterical.

Im sorry for Coach Beard,it sounds like he will suffer.

But ESPN and by extension the Bonghorn network created this mess. We have a nation of laws and courts to handle these matters, but they took the accusation at face value and convicted him without a shred of evidence.
Their proxies even jumped in to claim it was the right decision. If you want to see the exact moment when trusted journalism became one sided propaganda, here it is., Texas Monthly, the AAS, and San Antonio's newspaper all piled on to say he deserved it.

Now they're quiet. And the same people that said Beard had problems, that all women were victims, and that she was telling the truth…

..are all quiet.

Money or not, in Texas for criminal cases it's not the victim's ultimate decision as to whether a case will be prosecuted. The DA can elect to move forward (or not). It is basically State of Texas versus whoever has been charged if it moves forward. What happens fairly often is that plea bargaining reduces the charge to a misdemeanor in domestic dispute cases when it is a first time offender.

All parties must be careful here. If she is now retracting the charges, she is indicating that what she swore to in her affidavit is false. Thus Chris Beard's fiance could now be charged with filing a false report, which is a felony.

Now both parties can legally be charged and Chris Beard can and will still lose is his job.

I have no idea what happened, nor can I sort it out amongst a bunch of half assed media reports or a one-sided statement. I trust the authorities to sort this out as I do every other home conflict involving people I don't know anything about.

I know UT, coaches, players, media and especially ESPN The Horn did everything they could to bad mouth Baylor and all the coaches to put us through the wringer. Nothing was good enough to please them. Firing CAB and running off our president and athletic director even though not a player played a down after being accused. I am looking forward to seeing what they do.

they are playing both sides: let the truth come out by waiting and suspended without pay as a precursor to the firing. Meanwhile, they are looking at potential scenarios for all possibilities.

UTs end of it has everything to do with how the university comes out best. They aren't looking to protect Beard, the fianc or the program. The athletic department carries an enormous amount of weight at the school but at some point, the institution will override athletics.

- Men's basketball coach strangles girlfriend and is arrested
- FB coach screams profanities at Alamo Dome staffer for innocently putting his hands on him
