After todays turd sandwich what're your predictions for how the rest of the season plays out. I wasn't real optimistic after Marquette and now I'm even less optimistic. This reeks of a 7-11 to 8-10 type of team. It's just 1 game yes. But I've watched ISU all season. They aren't very good and that's being nice. But than again neither are we. I'd take a 10 seed in the dance all day at this pony

Better than football…slightly

Coming off Massive massive success, it's shocking how far both have fallen

I will add though, Drew teams tend to Peak in feb / March at the right time. Maybe that was all Tang. Guess we'll see

Trying to find out where we are in the FAFO curve at the moment

9-9 and I'm trying to be optimistic.

With Cryer back, we can finish in the top half of the conference. The upside about the loss to ISU is that they are probably the best defense in the Big 12. Unfortunately, the rest of the Big 12 is right behind them.

At best, I think a 12-6 finish is possible. If we don't adjust properly, we could be in for a looooong season.

Is cryer healthy? I still think we finish top 4. If cryer is not bottom 4.

This team is not very good!
Probably miss Tang more than we thought

I think we'll be 10-8, which is extremely disappointing given the talent.

I was trying to be positive after the Marquette loss, but I just don't see much here. In particular, our defense is just terrible. Offensively, just way too many turnovers. It looks like no one can run the offense. It's disappointing to see.

Looking like 9-9

Ames is the toughest place to play in the big 12, so I don't think we're near as bad as we looked today. They make lots of teams look bad in Ames. Our defense will be awful this year, but when we get Cryer back our offense will do enough to win plenty of games.

Ames is tougher than Lawrence ? Lubbock ? No. Was there in person today. This isn't a good team. Spin it how you wish. Blame it on whatever you wish but as of right now 12/31 this is a bad basketball team. IsU is far from a world beater. Also they've been mediocre at home the last 5 or so years. Hilton Magic has been dead for awhile

All big 12 teams are good top to bottom, and ISU is good especially in Ames. That said I am not defending our team. We are terrible defensively and don't see much hope for improvement. The coaches will try with smoke and mirrors but we simply don't have the personnel to get much better on that end.

Zone is our only hope defensively

No clue. But if we don't significantly improve our defense, rebounding, and overall intensity it will not be more than 10 wins.

It's going to be a very different sports year from the last several. We've been spoiled.

I had hoped Tweety Carter would've turned someone into the point guard we needed. Not sure his impact has been felt but sure feeling the loss of Tang.

Goes back to team construction:

1. Replace brown with love. Downgrade. Loves on ball defending and rebounding is horrible.
2. Replaces mm with Caleb. Stratospheric drop. Caleb is worse in every single area
3. Replace Akinjo with Flagler. Big drop
4. Replace sochan with George. Gain in passing and shooting. Lose in rebounding and defense.
5. Get no inside scoring
6 lose an absolute stud assistant coach
7 lose everyday John. Replace by committee. This is in process.
8. LJ still has issues with availability. Sane as hasn't year

We wonder why we look worse. Hard to be good with the loses we had and replaced them with we have now. Not hard to see.

A recent trend I've noticed in Baylor sports is that we seem able to bring in decent talent, but we're not able to develop that talent.

It's been pretty rare that we lose in Ames in many years. Can't imagine Ames is tougher than Lawrence. Been to neither though so who knows

We have a long history of player development under CSD and that paid off with a national title 2 years ago. No program has developed players better than we have over the past decade.

Historically ISU gives teams hell in Ames. Similar home court advantage to Lubbock.

Most definitely. Not as much the last decade maybe.

I'd probably rank them historically Kansas, iowa state, Lubbock

But the problem is the last two have had long stretches of suck at which times Lubbock becomes a total ghost town for games. But when they're good, it's amped

I'll predict we get better as the seaon goes on. We will not win a game where either Flagler or George are off. Both need to be good for us to win.

Also predict some f'ugly road losses.

A big part of player development is having the right assistant coaches...

This has not been a basketball problem. And it's not this year either. Our issue is that the guys brought in to contribute immediately -- George, Bridges and Lohner -- haven't been as good as we've needed them to be to have the type of season we were hoping to have.

We need to get Cryer back and going badly. Because we'll remain frustratingly inconsistent as long as we're depending so heavily on George's production as a scorer.

Drew has four former assistants leading Division I programs. I'd say he's done pretty well in that department.

No Quarterback with the wild af hot takes....criticizing our assistant coaching tree and player development program. Both have been second to none.

Yes we need Cryer back for sure. I've become so used to seeing the team play without him I totally forgot about him.

Also, ISU's coach has done wonders in rebuilding their program. They are one of the better teams in the conference.
