He's a damm good coach, beat us did he not? Your unwillingness to give Tang ANY credit for our success all those years is ridiculous

Huh? Tang was a great coach all those years and contributed to our success. I love him and was thrilled he got his opportunity.

IMO Tang was a big loss, sure will overcome it and have overcome it but I think we felt his loss early on in the year and early on in conference play

Imagine watching three conference games and extrapolating that into conclusions that our National Championship-winning coach of two decades was actually NOT responsible for all our successes.

I posted this and I stand by it. We did suck. We played really really bad in this game and Drew did a bad job as well.

But it was also tongue in cheek. Rob Schneider in Waterboy.

Lighten up. If you really want to do some research you will find in several posts I think Scott Drew is the greatest coach in Baylor history.

What's crazy to me is this run we're on has come with moderate but not striking improvement on the defensive end. We're still ranked 79th in adjusted defensive efficiency and likely won't get a whole lot better than that.

But it can't be overstated how important a healthy LJ Cryer is to this team. His presence takes so much pressure off George on the offensive end. His return and Bridges' emergence as a legit Big 12 combo forward completely transformed this team. Add in a healthy Tchamwa Tchatchoua, which I wasn't sure we'd see this year, and it changes our trajectory dramatically.

Yeah Drew did a real bad job losing by a combined three points to TCU and KSU during that stretch in the hardest conference in the country. Sometimes a shot goes in, sometimes it doesn't. But to say a team sucks because of a three game losing streak in the Big 12 is asinine. Kansas had a three game losing streak and they're projected a No. 1 seed.

Some of our fans need to trust the process of becoming the best version of ourselves AS YOU ENTER the tournament.

UConn won three National Championships entering the tournament with no less than 6 losses.

2004 - 27-6 (2 seed)
2011 - 26-9 (6 seed)
2014 - 26-8 (7 seed)

Now UConn did win their first title in 1999 as a 1 seed entering the tournament at 28-2, but who does that also sound like?

This is why March Madness is the king of all sports. If OU (currently at bottom of Big12) can knock off Alabama (current number 1 in the polls) by 30 points…. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!

We have the number one offense in the country (out of 350+ teams). Now do i also have concerns about our defense? …oh yeah. But, Drew could be a few lane closing drills away from fixing a lot of that.

We didn't suck, but losing home games in the Big 12 is a big deal. It's a good thing we've rebounded, but those losses have forced us to steal tough road games to get back into and stay in the Big 12 title race.

It is. Thought we would at least climb to top 50 but doesn't look that way for now. Based on eye test as well.. haven't really seen the improvement that the staff references in the pressers. The %s this team gives up is wild. I still hope it can get a bit better but might just be wishful thinking at this point.

I think a healthy Jon is worth 20 + spots but he can't move laterally well enough yet to defend the perimeter guys. Completely expected and still is a huge net positive.. but has gotten beat to the lane (just like our guards) multiple times when switched up top.

Just a roster and injury perfect storm. Sochan would make this defense top 30 and a title favorite (as the coaches expected). Just didn't fall that way. Rebounding, limited TO's, and crazy 3 point shooting is what they will rely on.

Don't think this type of make up has ever won it all with this level of defense but hopefully first time for everything as Jon improves and the coaches continue to try things.

I don't think we're going to win it all. I'd be surprised if we made it past the Elite Eight.

But if a flawed team like ours was ever going to make that type of run, this is the year to do it. No one is head and shoulders better than us despite our obvious defensive deficiencies.

And somehow, this team consistently manages to stay in games it has no business being competitive in by percentages.

Wishful yet hopeful thinking I know. I wouldn't bet on any individual team this year.

If they find a way to win in Lawrence I'll probably have to reconsider. I definitely didn't expect the defense to be this weak going into the year but can't deny reality.

I think I figured out the secret of Coach Drew's success: he selects the comments from Baylor fans online, such as the posts we often see here on Sicem365, edits them, then uses them as bulletin board material for our guys, telling them it's from the opposing team or coaches.

Kenpom has our adjusted D at 79 after the WVU game, IIRC I think we were 78 going into the WVU game so we dropped one spot. The D should improve as EJ gets more games in but I agree, at this point it probably is what it is, Fortunately, the O is still #1 in the country!

Quite the opposite. Aged like a 10 yr Cabernet.

Put down your pom poms and watch the game again bro. That team and game was different. We played with no passion and everything above is true. KSU is a tick above average and we lost in our own place to them.

Irony is I am Drew's biggest fan. None bigger. Love him.

KSU wasn't a tick above average then... they were the hottest team in the country...now people have film on them..the coaching in this conference is too good .

That's the point everyone is trying to make...let the game play out..and let the season play out a little before making these deep end prognostications.

i'm well aware the game the comment was made, and it damn sure felt like you were hanging your cleats up on the season. That's why it aged that way. I tend to be critical but keep my histrionics to myself, because I don't like sounding like a myopic loser when I have to correct myself.
