Shooting will come and go, the main area of improvement lies in his off the ball, aka help side defense. He is a great rebounding guard and a decent on ball defender, but is one of the worst off the ball defenders I have ever seen. In the last 2 games I have seem him twice literally turn his back on the ball allowing his man to beat him on easy back door layups. Just repeatedly shows an inexcusable lack of concentration and awareness. And I am one of the biggest Keyonte advocates on this board.
He gets lost a lot. It's pretty remarkable how often he's responsible when there's a breakdown for an uncontested layup. That's definitely something he'll need to improve.
Keyonte's an enormously talented player with an impressive array of skills. But he's very much a freshman, and we're getting from him what you get from most freshmen -- frustrating inconsistency on both ends and occasional bouts with immaturity.
He'll be the primary reason we win some games down the stretch, but there will also be games like last night, where you've just got to get him out of the game.
