Let's make KU lose 3 in a row in conference. Has that ever happened to them!?

It definitely did look like something was wrong against OU on Saturday. Assuming he was sick, how do we know he's fully over it for KU - especially with the quick turnaround?

It has already been established that Keyonte George is NOT Michael Jordan or Magic Johnson or any other potential GOAT. He's very good but he's not that good. We should keep those comparisons to the minimum because they are often silly.

He's pretty young to being making any all-time projections.

Exactly. On other thread someone tried to make just such a comparison.

The one thing I want to see from Keyonte tonight is better body language. He's not going to be on every night, and he doesn't need to be. But he compounds his poor play on the rare occasions it happens by pouting and moping on the court.

That's just immaturity showing through, and he'll grow past it at some point. But he needs to realize that you can still contribute to your team's success when you're struggling, and a big part of that is just projecting yourself better and continuing to play with confidence.

If George wants to be great, and I think he will be eventually, he'll have to learn to play through and bounce back from failure. All of the best players I've ever seen had short memories and unshakeable confidence. Keyonte's not quite there yet. Hopefully he'll take step toward getting there with a big bounce-back game tonight. We'll need him to be a contributor to beat Kansas.

Did Keyonte, the coaching staff or the athletic department confirm that he was ill on Saturday? I'm seeing a lot of posts mentioning that he was not feeling well, just wondering if it has been confirmed by anyone from the team.

And Cryer!
And Bridges, although that started in Morgantown.

Our talent is really showing themselves now.

Massive swing and a miss for this Subject. George is sooo inconsistent. 2-11, 0-5. That's rough.

Shooting will come and go, the main area of improvement lies in his off the ball, aka help side defense. He is a great rebounding guard and a decent on ball defender, but is one of the worst off the ball defenders I have ever seen. In the last 2 games I have seem him twice literally turn his back on the ball allowing his man to beat him on easy back door layups. Just repeatedly shows an inexcusable lack of concentration and awareness. And I am one of the biggest Keyonte advocates on this board.

He gets lost a lot. It's pretty remarkable how often he's responsible when there's a breakdown for an uncontested layup. That's definitely something he'll need to improve.

Keyonte's an enormously talented player with an impressive array of skills. But he's very much a freshman, and we're getting from him what you get from most freshmen -- frustrating inconsistency on both ends and occasional bouts with immaturity.

He'll be the primary reason we win some games down the stretch, but there will also be games like last night, where you've just got to get him out of the game.

Keyonte is the streakiest shooter ever. He's all feast or all famine. In his last 5 games, he's either shot over 50% or under 25% from the field. He's followed up 32 with 8, 20 with 4, 19 with 6. I guess on the bright side, this last OU/KU run was the first time he's put two duds together back-to-back, and I guess he's been under the weather as well.

His last 5:

2-11
3-12
8-15
2-8
10-18

The nice thing about this team is we don't need Keyonte to go off to beat a quality opponent. Sure, when he goes off, it helps, but we don't need that. We have plenty of other really good players that can and will step up.

With Cryer and Bridges playing at a high level, elite production from George is a luxury, not a necessity. This is especially true when Love plays well, as he did last night.

The emergence of those three as consistent producers behind Flagler has allowed us to treat and use George more like the freshman he is. We can ride him when he's hot and hide him a little when he's not.
