TURNOVERS:

Total:

Keyonte George: 64
Adam Flagler: 33
LJ Cryer: 33
Flo Thamba: 30
Dale Bonner: 27
Caleb Lohner: 23
Jalen Brides: 20
Josh O: 16
Langston Love: 16

Per Game Played:

Keyonte George: 2.91
LJ Cryer: 1.74
Adam Flagler: 1.65
Flo Thamba: 1.36
Dale Bonner: 1.35
Caleb Lohner: 1.05
Jalen Bridges: 0.91
Langston Love: 0.76
Josh O: 0.73

Per Minutes Played:

Keyonte George: 0.10
Caleb Lohner: 0.07
Dale Bonner: 0.07
Flo Thamba: 0.06
LJ Cryer: 0.06
Josh O: 0.05
Adam Flagler: 0.05
Langston Love: 0.05
Jalen Bridges: 0.04

I wish I had it by number of touches because obviously Keyonte handles the ball a lot more than Flo, Lohner, etc. but I don't.

We are averaging 12.4 Turnovers per game this year, which is the exact same as we averaged last year. We averaged 11.5 Turnovers in the Natty year.

My point to all of this? Nothing really. Just bored, had some time on my hands and Alf's statement jogged my desire to see what our TO situation looks like by factual numbers.

Good info, just seems every time I look up Cryer is committing careless turnover. Apparently KG is more of a problem in this regard than Cryer.

Unfortunately, none of those stats bear the true turnover propensity since it doesn't measure by touches. It would be expected the person(s) handling the ball more would lead turnover stats using those variables that were available to me. So, they overstate the turnover likelihood for ball handling guards like George and understate the turnover propensity for bigs like Flo who don't touch the ball as much. I wasn't trying to prove anything other than just wondering what the numbers would look like with those available stats.

The thread is actually about Sochan!

Not really. If it were, the heading would have just been "Sochan is an all star or Sochan is a success." Cryer would have been irrelevant. Instead, you made the focus on Cryer instead of Sochan by structuring it as, "CRYER celebrating Sochan's Success."

Well, that was not my intention! I guess it's obvious I never took a journalism class. To help honest, both are important but the tweet is clearly snout Sochan & it's just image & accomplishment bring showcased. Since Cryer retweeted it I mentioned him because it demonstrates that Jeremy is his friend & that he's interested in his success.

Dana - - When you pulled the data, did you grab the last 2 years as well? What's the comparison by position/role? This is good stuff. It would also be interesting to layer the timing of the turnover (which quarter) and the associated +/- factor.

Initially Lohnet, Thumb seem really high considering the amount of touches in their playing position...

Lohner was a disaster early on every time he touched the ball on offense. Was a walking turnover. Recently it seems is playing more within himself as a rebounding specialist.

Thomba gets almost all his turnovers on moving screens which count as turnovers.

It kinda makes sense we don't have a lot of team turnover, because so many possessions are iso ball with our guards taking tough shots to beat the shot clock. No ball movement results in limited turnovers.

Sometimes bad shots can be worse than turnovers. A bad bricked three point attempt results in long rebounds and easy layups in transition. Effectively as harmful as a live-ball turnover.

Agreed 100% - the timing of our shot selection has been very interesting this year...

Keynote bigger issue is taking flailing flopadopolous shots hoping to get a foul Called which does happen 1 in 3. And generally poor shot selection. If that improves, watch out cuz we going deep (and if JTT can chip in some small quality minutes)

This is where keynote leads the team. I think it's a key area he can improve. Just a little improvement will change things a lot
