Wow
What a game for him
What a game for him
Spot on. Instead of pouting he stayed ready. Would have been tempting for him to just mentally check out being in his last year of eligibility.IowaBear said:
Dudes played a whale of a game. Something to be said about a guys character who essentially loses all his PT yet remains humble and ready at any opportunity that might come. Today his redemption came and boy has he answered the bell
Bonner should get more time, but not at the expense of our main guys like George or Flagler. I see minutes available behind Bridges. Bonner should replace Lohner in the rotation.Chuckroast said:
I think we are a much tougher team with Bonner on the floor in lieu of George. If he can score like he did tonight, I would love to see some playing time adjustments.

Did you get up on the wrong side of bed today? It must be bad to be you!Crawfoso1973 said:

You are a little old to be triggered so easily. Thanks for the chuckle!Crawfoso1973 said:

The thing that has impressed me most is the confidence Dale is playing with on the offensive end. It's almost like he felt he had something to prove.Chuckroast said:
With Bonner playing as well as he is right now, I don't think our team has dropped off at all even with a player or two out. His ball handling, defensive intensity, and attitude have been a shot in the arm. His offensive production has been a nice bonus.
.@BaylorMBB @dalebonne played 11 minutes in previous six games with three DNPās. Last two games, 52 minutes, 28 points & tenacious defense. If you stay ready, you donāt have to get ready. ā¦@Big12Conferenceā© pic.twitter.com/OESzuyjUKD

Yep, need to maximize the time on the court to get comfortable. Drew likes to establish rotations and tighten up early so this is new for him with a fresh rotation so late in the year. Will be interesting to see.Crawfoso1973 said:
Hopefully we get Love and Key back on Saturday. Dale has proven he deserves rotation minutes even when the team is fully healthy, so that new rotation would need time to gel. ISU and a couple games in the big 12 tourney would give us time to integrate Bonner with everyone healthy.
It wasn't even about hitting shots, he wasn't even taking them. I agree on the culprit, a loss of confidence, but he was routinely passing up shots that you have to take, whether you're hitting them or not, to keep a defense honest.Quinton said:
He just wasn't hitting shots and had lost confidence. To be fair Its hard to go in and know you're on a tight trigger. You can tell these last few games where he knows he will play and not be pulled, he looks more comfortable out there.
Prior to these last two games he was sub 30% from 3 on the year and 0% in big 12 play. He was also 2/16 in big 12 play from the field. The defense wasn't enough to overcome that level of offensive output. Now that he is confidently knocking those down it changes everything I agree.
Hope he can fit with George and Love back and we have 5 true guards to rotate. I agree George and Cryer should be staggered much of the time.

Ja'Kobe is an elite 2 way player who will immediately be the best perimeter defender we've had since Davion and Teague. Teague's defense was always extremely underrated BTW, I guess playing next to Davion it was easy to see how Teague's defensive impact was overshadowed.historian said:
Along with the new guys!
Hopefully the Dale Bonner we're seeing now is what we'll get the rest of the year. If that's the case, I don't see why he shouldn't jump to top 3 status in guard minutes. If he can continue to score like he has the last 2 games, what he brings in toughness and defensive play puts him over the top. He brings swagger back to a team that has been criticized for being a finesse team all year.bear2be2 said:It wasn't even about hitting shots, he wasn't even taking them. It's been like night and day the last two games. He's stepping into shots with confidence and taking advantage of a quick first step off the dribble. He has those capabilities, he's just rarely had the confidence to showcase them at this level. That trepidation would appear to be gone, hopefully never to return.
