Who's open now or is gonna be fired soon? Unless theirs a scandal or health issues I think most positions are full.

So you honestly think there won't be a coaching carousel over the next few weeks? Even if this run didn't open doors for this year, it certainly opened doors for future years and I guaran-forking-tee you his agent is listening to any and all offers from big time programs.

While I sympathize with your point, it would be nave to suggest coaches don't bend rules and talk to people they shouldn't, even if it is through agents, in these types of situations.

I don't think most people have a problem at this stage with freedom of movement among players. The issue is tampering.

Players who want to transfer should have the ability to do so through the portal. But enticing players into the transfer portal is bull***** And ultimately, something will need to be done about tampering with rostered players.

I'm glad Mack Rhoades took the stance he did against tampering. More ADs should take similar positions.

This is what is wrong with college basketball. This is what will destroy what we love best. When coaches have to deal with distracted players, the fans, schools and teams suffer.

Schools aren't recruiting. Agents are. There is nothing that keeps one NIL group from contacting the agents for the players directly. Negotiating is always going on - all season. it has to stop.

Just remember - it isn't the coaches but the NIL group that represent schools talking to agents who are engaging their clients (players/parents).

Thanks for replying to my first sentence. My second sentence was just as important to my point.

If a player is not in the transfer portal do not mess with him. If he enters the portal that's fine. As far as the phony NIL process that takes place with the schools with big bucks, please don't call it NIL because that gives NIL a bad name. Be honest and say you are buying such and such a player. NIL done the right way is a good thing but it should be after a prospect decides where he wants to play and then once he is at that school, he or she should be able to benefit from their name, image, or likeness.
Unfortunately, the previous president of the NCAA and the previous governing body were incompetent and lacked lleadership and had no structure or guidelines to follow so schools can make their own rules and do pay for play and use the label NIL to justify their actions. It's not in the best interest of college athletics or the student athletes. Having said that, I do not see a change coming but maybe the new NCAA president and the new governing body led by Linda Livingstone will show some leadership. The problem is trying to get congressional help through legislation. I'm pessimistic about this but we have to hope for the best.

Everything these NIL groups and agents are doing are legal. That is the problem. As long as they are legal, it will continue.

However, coaches are not supposed to be involved, but more and more they are asked which players they want or don't want. There has to be involvement or the NIL groups might pay/recruit kids coaches don't want, but there isn't supposed to be. It is a gray area what "coach involvement" really is in NIL.
