WOW!!

People keep saying he might be a lottery pick & someone said he might be overall #1.

Not likely no. 1, not with a couple of international players that look like locks at the top of the draft. He is starting to consistently show up in the top 15 of the mock drafts, for what that is worth, which is nothing. For all the knock on the Freshman, Missi and Jakobi are amazing talents who have worked really hard to be apart of the culture of joy. Enjoy the ride folks, this could be an interesting month, or 2...

This is not last year, there are no locks at the top of the draft. Missi is going much higher than projected. Every Baylor fan can see with their own eyes.

I agree that his potential is off the charts, just pointing out he has risen from nowhere to the 10-15 slot in mock drafts I am seeing. I have not seen Sarr or the other two internationals move off the top line as yet. It would take a lot but with a deep run in the tournament, who knows? I would point out the the top teams in the draft are more often than not bad teams with a firm reputation for making bad decisions, so.. I stopped trying to predict how various NBA teams will go in the draft.

Drew needs to get Mitchell, Butler, Teague et al to start buzzing in Missi and Walter's ears about staying to win a NC.

God, I hope not. No one should have to postpone their dreams for someone else's.

I'd love to see them both back if it's what's best for them.

They're both going to sign a multi-million dollar guaranteed contract. Drew should resign if he advises them not to do it (he won't).

I haven't seen any mocks lately, but IMO there's no way Missi WON'T go top 10. In fact I think he has number 1 overall upside if he goes nuclear and obliterates in the tournament and we make an elite 8 or final 4 run. Going into conference play I thought he had top 10 upside simply based on his freakish athleticism, hands, upside relative to his age and experience, but his development - especially on the offensive end -- since the beginning of conference has been nothing short of astounding. He's intangibles (basketball IQ, coachability) might be even more impressive than his athleticism. He is an absolute sponge and within a tiny sample size he has transformed himself into our #1 offensive threat and a 77% free throw shooter. At the beginning of the season all he could do was catch lobs and dunk. Now we are isolating him at the high post and he is crossing guys over and finishing with both hands with acrobatic layups. Are you kidding me? This from a guy who should be a high school senior and only starting playing organized ball 2 or 3 years ago!! Moreover, the NBA will look at his 77% free throw percentage and salivate. Why? Because scouts know it's only a matter of time until he is reliably hitting 15-18 foot jumpers and corner threes.....free throw shooting is a key indicator regarding a guy's ability to extend his range out to 3 point land, so the raw tools are already locked in place and ready for liftoff.

No doubt he impressed some scouts on Saturday. I fully expect him to do the same tonight.

MIssi's development here is going to do wonders for Scott Drew and Co.'s recruiting. If Missi continues his rise, we go deep in the tournament, and he becomes a lottery pick....watch out. Every 5-star athletic big man from high school, transfer, and overseas would be fools to not seriously consider Baylor.

I am eating a ton of crow regarding Missi (and happy to do it),

I didn't think there was any way he was going to round into a legit top pick at the start of the season, or even going into B12 play. Yes, give Drew and staff a ton of credit, and Missi of course for the hard work.

Regarding staying for an NC, he should only do that if it's his own dream (not because it's ours or Drew's), but he can get some guidance from people that did it, as opposed to the rest of the world telling him to go. That was my point.

Just win it this year and he wouldn't need to stay!

Projections/mock drafts always lag reality. Sochan was still projected behind Brown late in his one season here and ended up in the lottery -- to the surprise of few who had watched him all year.

MIssi will be a top-10 pick IMO and he may go in the first half of that. If I was an NBA GM, I'd take him over any of the guards in this class -- who are all kind of dime-a-dozen players by NBA standards. Missi could be a franchise cornerstone. I haven't seen a guard or wing player this year I've felt that way about.

You may not believe this, but I completely agree.

Whoever drafts Missi first will be be getting the steal of the draft IMO.

If he starts hitting corner 3s we need to rename the NBA MVP trophy after him.
