Duke's class is incredible. I am impressed with Scheyer and staff's recruiting. I know there's NIL, etc. but I honestly thought there would be some dropoff in recruiting after Coach K left. Instead, it's been full steam ahead.
Duke's class last year was in my view the most talented since the 2012 Anthony Davis class at Kentucky which defeated us on the way to the NC. While Scheyer is dominating on the recruiting front (Scheyer seems to be continuously asking, "Is 3- 7 footers enough?), I have to think 27-9 and a second round NCAA exit was even more underwhelming to Duke world than Baylor Nation.
Two different stories. That's exactly what I said in another thread. It's highly unlikely you will see a roster of largely freshmen, no matter how many 5 stars, win an NCAA championship in the era of the transfer portal and NIL. Older, more physical and experienced players can now be bought and be immediately eligible so it's just as easy to build that way with proven commodities rather than kids whose ratings are based on where they will be in 3-4 years (and by that time all of the best will already have been in the NBA a year or two).
Nonetheless, Scheyer's recruiting haul is still impressive.
