Duke's class last year was in my view the most talented since the 2012 Anthony Davis class at Kentucky which defeated us on the way to the NC. While Scheyer is dominating on the recruiting front (Scheyer seems to be continuously asking, "Is 3- 7 footers enough?), I have to think 27-9 and a second round NCAA exit was even more underwhelming to Duke world than Baylor Nation.DanaDane said:

Two different stories. That's exactly what I said in another thread. It's highly unlikely you will see a roster of largely freshmen, no matter how many 5 stars, win an NCAA championship in the era of the transfer portal and NIL. I would bet for Drew. I'm saying we aren't beating Texas in an NIL battle.
I feel that one and done players aren't hugely concerned with NIL. They are going to be on campus for less than a year and they are more concerned about performing well and getting that first round draft pick money. Of course it will probably be more of a factor if a kid gets offers in the high six figures or even 7 figures. I don't think jakobe is here because of NIL.
Most players projected at lottery picks are more focused on the $20-30million contract they will get after their one and done. If money next year is the deciding factor, the G League Ignite will likely blow away even Texas NIL. With basketball, the superstar kids get a lot of NIL from shoe companies anyway.
They really should be asking which coach can get them drafted the highest. Development and play style. That is where the real money is.
