Let it be noted I have been team Lohner since last November. He is strong, he rebounds, he defends other forwards and can score if open. He can't create his own shot, defend quick guards or dribble much. He is not NBA material. But he can help this team with what he does do well.
You sure about that?Crawfoso1973 said:
I'm truly not trying to bash Lohner
In this regard Lohner reminds me a lot of Bonner last year. A lot of people viewed Bonner as a good defender because he looked the part and he was active / tried hard. He gambled for steals and sometimes it worked and looked good on highlight videos but more often than not it lead to easy buckets for the other team. Bonner struggled with the fundamentals of defense like staying in front of who he was guarding. Our perimeter D was awful last year and Bonner didn't help much. Bonner tried but just wasn't very good at basketball. I view Lohner in the same way. That said, Lohner is much improved and can help us this year if he stays within his limited niche role and doesn't try to do to much.Quinton said:
I get what he means but I wouldn't call him fake hustle. He moves around really fast and is all over the place on the floor but not in a good way. He doesn't really have a good feel for the game and it still hasn't fully slowed down for him. He is a good jump and straight line athlete but doesn't have great fluidity or feet. A little stiff.
Think he has improved and can contribute. It a solid rebounder, good leaper, and a hustle player. Stick to what he does well and it will help the team. I think he has done well this year and should be in the rotation

Curious, where did you play your college ball? I assume you ended up playing pro ball? Since guys like Lohner and Bonner are bad at basketball and they played on P5 teams. Seems safe to save I'm chatting with someone who was much better

Somebody seems to have trouble with the English language. I never said Lohner was the same as Vital, only that sometimes he plays a similar role ("glue guy"). I even went out of my what to explain that Lohner is nowhere near the same level as Vital.
That's what comparisons are: looking at ways to things are the same. People do it all the time! Someone else threw a hissy fit when I said something similar on another thread. I was hoping for some objective analysis & thankfully I got some. Thanks to everyone who contributed!

Lohner had perhaps his second best game in a Baylor uniform.
He shot both treys confidently and without hesitation. The dunks were nice, but he also had a sweet high-low pass to Josh (I think it was) for an easy lay in.
