Chill....they will figure it out. This is the first game. There are folks being paid lots of money to make this the best possible place to play...broadcase and provide home court advantage.

Yes. They should have had this issue figured out prior to the first game.,

Sometimes you don't know the pants are too short in the window until you try em on.

I'm sure kinks will be worked out and the things that aren't fully completed will be finished out, but I'm wondering if the camera angle thing is an easily "fixable" issue, or if it is a hard wired design type of thing that can't be changed without a lot of additionally expensive re-design effort?

Yeah I'm not sure this is a fix I'd expect any time soon.

Wonder if it would be different if it was on real TV vs. ESPN+. Perhaps there are limited camera operators or something akin that limit the options. If not, I'm sure something will be changed. Can't see a network happy with the "too far away" view last night.

I bet they have it figured out before the big national broadcast games against KU and UH. In fact, seemed better even in the second half last night

Unbelievable that David would say that there is not much that can be done about it. The more I interact with this administration, the more pissed off I become. I'm going to check my blood pressure. Entire Athletic Department needs a personnel overhaul. Reason: Incompetence in handling yet another in a long line of issues.

I wouldn't count on it.

They need to. Doesn't matter what is said in that quote. The fact a public reply like that happens is a huge red flag on the athletic dept and admin. This is very obvious stuff.

One of the most important reasons for the facility is a great broadcast that shows a great environment ( that seems like it will be successful). Millions will be watching big games. It's not a minor detail, it is one of the most important points of the entire project.

The viewing experience is terrible if it stays like that. Would be a ridiculous waste to not make sure the broadcast is pristine

I could hardly watch it. Just about the worst tv viewing experience I have ever had in thousands of basketball games. I will be there in person tonight. They must fix this at some point.

It reminded me of watching a game at Gallagher-Iba arena.

I think I see the cameras hanging from the rafters and it seems that they could be lowered quite a bit for better angles and it would not obstruct anyones view.

Link no workey. Like the cameras

They also need to do something about the smoke. The broadcast looks hazy for most of the game.

I don't think the camera angles are fixable this year. Probably not until they "re-seat" people. They'll probably have to do some camera type renovations like they did at FC to make it better. My first thought is take out some of the table and chairs from the top of 100s at mid court. Will be interesting to see what they do when game is on national tv and not just the +

I didn't notice the far-away look as bad on the women's broadcast. It may be getting better or perhaps after a game I was somewhat used to it.

Here's a shot of G-I. Looks like they have a large camera bay at the very top, but also a camera stand at the top of the middle level (which used to be the top of the arena before they enlarged it).

Not a surprise. Again, its normal for the reflex defensive reactions from fans and those inside the athletic dept. This is a long time coming with a lot of invested time. Shouldn't have posted anything publicly but I get it.

But with all that said, they will be forced to correct this. There just isn't any other way around it. It was the worst viewing experience I've ever seen from a high major basketball game. Not hyperbole, truly the worst I've seen. The floor shots were actually really good.. the action was the worst I've ever seen.

You have initial denial period and then a lot of reactionary "this can't be changed" type stuff. Its a defense mechanism to avoid embarrassment. It happens when mistakes are made and I think we can all understand that. Denial is normal. But eventually they will realize how serious an error this is and will have to get it fixed. Doesn't matter cost.. doesn't matter modification of layout. There simply isn't any other choice. You might even bet $200+M on it.

Correct. It is an absolute must. It's not a question of behaving a slightly inconvenient action view. It's a question of having an atrocious view. Major networks may even have issues with it.

This was the guy that colossally screwed up the seating for the Arkansas game last year - the earliest hoops sellout in our history. His response to huge gaffes are not to take ownership and pledge to make it right, but rather the bold strategy of saying, "this happens all the time and is customary" or in the case of the cameras, throw his hands up in the air and say, "can't be fixed."

This dude is a PR nightmare. So naturally he is our Associate AD for External Affairs.

After reviewing some of my previous response with David Kaye, I am of the belief that he does care about doing his job. And he's willing to make certain admissions about things that need to be done and will be done to better our athletics programs. With that said, his tweet about not being able to do anything about it right now was not well-timed, even if it's true. So it's a good idea he deleted it. I may have misspoke by saying the entire athletic department needs an overhaul. That is likely not so. But the truth does remain that there are a few not so insignificant holes in it. And I'm not privy to what those holes are. But they're there. Hence, the Mount Everest camera angles.

I don't know, these guys have brought us miscue after miscue like Revelxp, seriously botched NIL, limited the number of freshmen who could run the line, and birthed the never to be sufficiently damned mustard yellow. Your gut instinct to say clean house may be closer to the truth than you or I are really comfortable admitting.

If my initial overly pissed off assessment is correct, then Baylor athletics is not in a good position going forward. So I hope I'm wrong. Still, to your point, there have been lots of miscues. And someone should be held responsible. It's like the crappy NFL reps-they're going to keep making bonehead calls until they are called into account. In both cases, that day may be far out.
