Chill....they will figure it out. This is the first game. There are folks being paid lots of money to make this the best possible place to play...broadcase and provide home court advantage.
Yeah I'm not sure this is a fix I'd expect any time soon.Johnny Bear said:GruntTuff said:

I'm sure kinks will be worked out, but I'm wondering if the camera angle thing is an easily "fixable" issue, or if it is a hard wired design type of thing that can't be changed without a lot of additionally expensive effort?

Wonder if it would be different if it was on real TV vs. ESPN+. Perhaps there are limited camera operators or something akin that limit the options. If not, I'm sure something will be changed. Can't see a network happy with the "too far away" view last night.

Here's a shot of G-I. Looks like they have a large camera bay at the very top, but also a camera stand at the top of the middle level (which used to be the top of the arena before they enlarged it).BellCountyBear said:blackie said:

It reminded me of watching a game at Gallagher-Iba arena.
Not a surprise. Again, its normal for the reflex defensive reactions from fans and those inside the athletic dept. This is a long time coming with a lot of invested time. Shouldn't have posted anything publicly but I get it.parch said:
He deleted the tweet essentially saying nothing can be done about the main camera angle.

But with all that said, they will be forced to correct this. There just isn't any other way around it. It was the worst viewing experience I've ever seen from a high major basketball game. Not hyperbole, truly the worst I've seen. The floor shots were actually really good.. the action was the worst I've ever seen.
You have initial denial period and then a lot of reactionary "this can't be changed" type stuff. Its a defense mechanism to avoid embarrassment. It happens when mistakes are made and I think we can all understand that. Denial is normal. But eventually they will realize how serious an error this is and will have to get it fixed. Doesn't matter cost.. doesn't matter modification of layout. There simply isn't any other choice. You might even bet $200+M on it.
This was the guy that colossally screwed up the seating for the Arkansas game last year - the earliest hoops sellout in our history. His response to huge gaffes are not to take ownership and pledge to make it right, but rather the bold strategy of saying, "this happens all the time and is customary" or in the case of the cameras, throw his hands up in the air and say, "can't be fixed."Guitarbiscuit said:
Unbelievable that David would say that there is not much that can be done about it. The more I interact with this administration, the more pissed off I become. I'm going to check my blood pressure. Entire Athletic Department needs a personnel overhaul. Reason: Incompetence in handling yet another in a long line of issues.

This dude is a PR nightmare. So naturally he is our Associate AD for External Affairs.
I don't know, these guys have brought us miscue after miscue like Revelxp, seriously botched NIL, limited the number of freshmen who could run the line, and birthed the never to be sufficiently damned mustard yellow. Your gut instinct to say clean house may be closer to the truth than you or I are really comfortable admitting.Quote:
I may have misspoke by saying the entire athletic department needs an overhaul.
