Damn .I guess we're lucky we're not 5-8 instead of 11-2.

Huh? Guess 40% shooting overall and 14% from 3 is hunky dory with the positive gestapo.

Your headline and what you just posted are unrelated.

Unless this is your first game.

Sometimes the ball don't go through the hoop. Nothing you can do.

5 turnovers and holding a Big 12 team to 60 in regulation is very very good. Those are 2 things you can control when shots aren't following.

20 year season ticket holder. OSU is not good. We are better than this but can't hit a shot. Frustrating. But you be you.

Just glad we got the win.

So frustrating. I hate winning on the road in the Big 12. I also really hate having the top 3 pt shooting team in the country. Why can't we just make every shot???

You must not know much about basketball. Poor shooting nights happen to every team. We still gutted out a tough conference road win.

Good grief you are a child. I expect better than 2-15 and I bet Drew does too. Guarantee like me he is happy we won but frustrated with that performance.

I'm not the one who made a separate thread to whine about how this team is so frustrating. If you're just talking about this one game, then say that in the game thread. Don't be a petulant child and post a "look at me!" thread. All it does is make you look foolish.

We are a good team with some elite freshman. Like last year, physical, athletic teams hurt us. We got outmuscled but we are a better basketball team.

Once again, fun to watch our freshman studs play but I am not sure this team is going that far in the tournament. I am not predicting, but just guessing. We shall see.

Wish we had bigger nads for defense.

We led the nation in 3-point percentage coming into today's game and were third in overall offensive efficiency.

This team has some issues that could limit its ceiling this year. Shot-making isn't one of them.

The "performance" besides outside shooting was exceptional. Sometimes the ball doesn't go in the hole. It's not because of poor performance.

Yeah, and after that game, we had a bunch of dum dums on this board talking about how poor of a shooting team we were. We only went out after that and became the best three point shooting team in the country.

People need to stop making knee-jerk reactions based on 40 minutes of basketball in a 40 game season.

It's our first true road game. Baylor is also coming off only one game after a long holiday break. We are fortunate that it's OSU and not Kansas, Houston or Texas. Those games will be soon enough and our defense still needs to improve significantly if we really have championship aspirations.

Yep, gave up way too high a shooting percentage again. Ok st shot in the high 40s. The defense is a real recurring problem that just hasn't improved.

Now the offense gets stagnant at times but I agree there were a ton of missed open looks which happens. Think Little or Love need to replace Nunn in the lineup and the stagnation will decrease. Nunn off the bench could be helpful in spurts

Was a good win .

Dominated on glass offensively and defensively.

Dominated in ball security and turnovers.

Dominated in paint 51-36.

But I'm just the Pollyanna gestapo.

good w against a bad opponent. this team has major problems keeping opposing guards out of the lane.

3pt shooting has been up and down. i doubt we finish the year as good as we've started but were definitely better than today. missed lots of open ones.

Missi is the most important player on this team IMO just because it gives our defense a pulse.

I love Missi and would certainly put him near the top of this team's MVP discussion, but to me, Dennis is our best and most important player because he's the only guy on our roster with a second gear he can go to in clutch time. He's the only player we have who can put the team on his back and will it to a victory.

And he becomes even more important once you take into account how little support he gets at times from guys who were supposed to be impact players -- Nunn in particular, but Love, Dennis and Walter have all disappeared at times too.

Without Dennis, who shows up and produces every single game, we'd have several more losses than we currently do.

I think Bridges might be even more important to us than Dennis or Missi. We would have absolutely nothing to replace what Bridges produces in the rotation if he were to get injured. Bridges is by far our best defender and most efficient offensive player. He is our team X factor. When he is fully dialed in on both ends of the court we are a legit final 4 contender.

Predicting we don't finish the year hitting nearly 1/2 our three pointers while playing in toughest conference in the country by far is really going out on a limb.

Bridges is an excellent role player in an extremely important role. And as you stated, he's the only guy on our roster currently capable of filling that role. So I agree he's very important to our team's success. But his offensive skill set and relative lack of assertiveness on that end limit his overall value IMO. He's still basically just a catch and shoot/putback guy after four years, which certainly has its utility, but he's not a guy that can be leaned on late in a close game to turn the tide.

That's not meant as a knock because I love Jalen and would put him up there with Dennis, Missi, Walter and Love on the list of our team's best and most important players. He does a lot of small things behind the scenes that make a big impact. But sometimes you need guys to do big things to turn a close loss into a win and he's never really grown into that profile, where Dennis has and Love has shown potential to.

One reason I hate non-conference games against teams like John Brown, Nicholls, Mississippi Valley et al from a fan perspective is that it gives a portion of our fanbase completely unrealistic expectations of what the season is going to be like when it comes to conference play. They think we'll go on the road to places like Ok State or WVU or pick any location, and we'll have a game filled of easy 3 point shots, slams, wins by 30+ points, you name it, without even contemplating the fact we're not playing guys a foot shorter, less athletic, less overall quality and less fundamentally sound in most instances. It's just not that way.

Every Big 12 program has athletes of equal or bigger size and somewhat similar talent, or are quickly seeking those (see UCF, UC and BYU). The difference in those areas are slim once conference play starts, particularly on the road in the Big 12 but truly applicable to all the major conferences. It's why Purdue can go into Northwestern and get their rear handed to them in December. It's why Arizona can go into a bottom of the barrel Stanford in December and lose by almost 20. It's why Marquette (yesterday) can go into the home of the team (Seton Hall) we played earlier, a team picked next to the bottom in the Big EAST, and lose.

Yesterday, shots simply weren't falling which is part of basketball sometimes. The fact we were able to come out with a road victory in a circumstance like that actually speaks very positive volumes about this team in my opinion. And, anyone who has seen me post knows I hate blaming officials, but yesterday there were plenty of really unbalanced calls particularly in the 2nd half.

We certainly have some areas we are gonna have to continue to work on, including some of our unusually erratic ball handling issues yesterday if it becomes a trend, but overall we're 1-0 which is already a better start than we had last year in the conference.

Sorry to the sensitive Positive Gestapo. This team was frustrating to watch yesterday. That was the meaning of the post. I thought that was obvious.

It's a reasonable reaction to that game. If that offends you for some reason I suggest you grow a pair. I understand an off night shooting. Perhaps I just overestimated this teams ability?

Oklahoma State should have disavowed any Baylor fan with illusions of a cakewalk through conference play. There was nothing easy in that win and the threes were not falling.

I don't think it is bad you that say you were frustrated. You're just expressing your opinion. I see it as you are invested in this team and they didn't perform at the level you had hoped they would. What they did met the expectations of some of the rest of us. Just a difference of opinions, which is what a forum is all about in my mind.

There is no "Positive Gestapo." All of the people calling you out have been critical of this team at times. I think you'd do well in the defenses of your post to drop that silly narrative.

But the issue most took with your post is that you didn't make a distinction for what was clearly a one-off occurrence. This team's body of work doesn't portend an ongoing shot-making issue, so you when you declare that it "is" frustrating to watch for that explicit reason, people are going to be confused.

I think everyone was frustrated with how we shot the ball yesterday. No one likes watching their team miss open shots. But this team has shot the ball exceptionally well this season. So most can look at that performance and take it for what it is -- one of the three to five games every good team is going to play in a season where nothing wants to fall.

As Dana and others have said, it's a really good thing that we were able to win that game, given the circumstances. That's a positive, not a negative. Shots will fall in the future. That's a virtual given. When you can win when they aren't falling, you take it and move on.

I agree. Once again, the moderators told us that we were going to be competing for a Big 12 championship with this fantastic basketball team. The defense has look terrible all year long. However, the defense looked better yesterday, but then again it was against a bad team. There's no way this team is beating Kansas or Houston, and will be lucky to beat Texas and Texas Tech. There absolutely is a positive Gestapo on this board, which just drives me crazy.
