No time to panic although the chicken littles on the game threads always do . Going into the season we knew there would be growing pains. A mix of transfers and young players. They are talented and coachable but will take time to learn situational basketball. Fortunately most every other team is in the same situation due to the transfer portal.

Not time to panic, though reality has set in that this team can't defend and it's a race against time to see if they will learn how.

I only watched the last 8 minutes of the game, but *** kind of offense are we running? No movement, no post game, no urgency…just stagnant, confused about what they are doing stuff. I feel like this has been the issue in tough games for the last 2 years.

This team is not top 25 material. Not right now. Hopefully Drew can coach them up defensively by the end of year. I miss the old days (3 years ago) when everyone was certain of their role. These players don't really have much of a clue on defense.
Disagree. Right now we should be ranked between 16th and 23rd. Don't forget that Texas got 27 points from 3 in the first half, and needed a Baylor collapse to win at the buzzer.

As much as we hate the bad stuff, don't forget the Bears fought back, and if Texas had only shot 54% (6 of 11 instead of 9 of 11) from 3 in the first half, we would have won by 7 today.

I think we will go unranked very soon, at which point the team will begin coming together to break the top 25 once again by late Feb. But at its best, I don't see much talent on the squad. 2 or 3 good players followed by players who sorta just take up space.

Been saying this a while now. We don't have depth at guard we have a lack of depth. Outside of Walter and Dennis (who is playing out of position), all we have at guard are a bunch of guys who can't beat out anyone to start.

Drew's refusal the last 3 years to find us a true point guard is killing his teams.

Easy to believe this team is 4-3 in conference by the end of January if not 3-4

i'm with you on both of those - but we seem to be competitive for the majority of games then don't know what to do with the pieces. i have to give CSD the benefit of the doubt given the last 20 years - it's just shocking to me how awful the execution is at the end of games and especially the last two minutes

I started watching with about eight minutes left in the game and saw us make one field goal … the NBA range three launched with about 10 seconds left. Our execution looked awful the entire time I watched. I'm amazed to hear that we actually executed our offense the first 2/3 of the game. I don't know if we just get tight or what, but all i've seen the last two games is a bunch of guys standing around the perimeter watching somebody else go one on two.
Nunn was really good for 25 minutes and terrible for 15. With Texas taking Dennis away, we needed Nunn to continue to do what he was doing in the first half and he wasn't up to the challenge.

Weird. Our losses are back to back, then back to back. I know Drew likes to avoid making a game emotional, but this one maybe we should have some emotion late in the game.

Against K State and Texas both we had a 5 point lead more than halfway through the second half, yet in both cases we could not build on it despite playing inferior teams.

Only way I see we fix that is we build 15 point halftime leads. We don't seem to last all the way at full strength.
We're not getting 15-point halftime leads. That's not how this team plays.

We just need guys to perform better at key points in games, Nunn especially.

We can't have our No. 2 guard be unplayable late in key games. It just can't happen.
Not just the 2, but 5 as well. Who do you play? They both are so flawed on both ends of the court. At this point, I would start Josh.

This team lacks the hustle Drew's best teams had. Same with last year's. I am not sure if it's the youth, attitude or what.

Also, Everyday John's injury is so huge, This is a different team if he developed the way he should have. Yes, I know it is what it is, not this fault, it's nearly a miracle he came back at all .. but man, you put a savvy senior big in the starting line up.

Also, what an embarrassment for the B12 that Jay BIlas is calling out the **** officiating on national tv REPEATEDLY.

Desperataly need to blow out TCU at the Foster next Saturday

Our team has improved defensively by leaps and bounds in the past 2-3 weeks. This is not last year's team on the defensive end.

Missi is getting a pass on here and I'm not sure why. We can't use the being a freshmen as an excuse if we're going to recruit 5 star guys. They are being relied on and he's been to be blunt bad all of conference play. He's shown flashes but that's about it

Disagree. I see a team fighting hard and playing at full effort. But effort doesn't always win tough games. We are lacking execution and situational awareness (basketball IQ) that comes with experience.

The Misse / Josh O tandem has been adequate and at times very good. They are not the problem with this team on either end.

Agreed. This team does some really good things every game (well every game but the Michigan State loss, anyway). It just needs to learn to win, especially on the road. We need more of Matt Rhule's "What's next?" mentality. We seem to struggle more than most Scott Drew-coached teams at getting out of tailspins. That's going to have to change if we're going to reach our potential.

But we're not that far off. We're literally three points from being undefeated in the best conference in America.

Seton Hall they faded big. They did recover well.

Auburn strangely was the best played high level game we played.. you're right on that. And they are the best team we've played all year (or Duke) which makes the team hard to understand.

Road and "neutral" games is where it really stands out.

Missi's youth and immaturity hurts us at times.

That stretch with the shot clock violation and and-1 on the other end was an absolute killer. There was an extreme lack of awareness shown on both ends of the floor there.

I agree with you again. I don't see an effort or hustle issue. Our issues aren't a want-to or heart problem. Our issues are mental and/or execution related in the vast majority of cases.

Really? Where is that play Weaver made to keep possession to Texas? We've not had a play like that all season.

Where was any defense on the last play?

These guys aren't apathetic. They just don't sell out. And they need to in order to win games like this. I am hopeful they will learn.

This has always been my argument with one-and-done guys. You can't play the youth card when you're only getting one year out of these guys.

They're being recruited to be stars, they've got to play like stars. Walter did today -- and has for most of the season. Missi isn't at that level.

We can agree to disagree. I see our guys diving for loose balls and making hustle plays all game every game. And that last possession was a lack of situational awareness and execution, not effort.

We had multiple plays like that on loose balls today.

We're playing hard. We just get lost too often in transition. I don't think our guys are confident or well enough versed in their roles in those situations ... and it shows.

We need to go back to the basics and overhaul our transition defense. It's been a disaster all season.

You're moving goalposts… I said nothing about Josh. I said a Missi. And yes has been borderline awful most of conference play.

I don't see Baylor blowing out anyone with a pulse anytime soon. And TCU is significantly better than we are.

To be fair, he was fouled on the shot clock violation and probably didn't have the opportunity to go up any earlier than he did. But yeah, his basketball IQ needs work.

I wouldn't say he's been awful. He's done some good things in every game but the BYU game. He's just played like a freshman, and we don't have the depth at that position to afford that.

It's to be expected. Missi is a year younger than his class and it takes years longer for bigs to develop physically and skill-wise. Realistic expectations are the key. I wasn't expecting stardom out of Missi. Walter is playing much closer to his ceiling as the more polished player.

I don't care. You have to know the situation there and go hard to the rim. You're not going to get a whistle pump faking with no time on the shot clock. You've got to get that ball and go straight to the rack.

That's fair, but expectations for one-and-done guys are always going to be high. If they're good enough to go to the NBA after one year, they need to be good enough to be impact players at the college level. We've had too many who weren't.

I'm really hard on him, and I feel bad sometimes. But we need him to be a factor.

He was in the first half, and our offense was really good as a result. But he disappeared in the second half and it hurt us.
