Houston has a team of really good college players. I would take Sharp and Shead on my team any day.DanaDane said:
Houston isn't full of uber talented guys but they are stacked with tough kids who get after it. They're not that pleasant to watch for most in a world that has become AAU driven, but I really enjoy watching them. It will be interesting to see how the game is called in Lawrence Saturday and how UH adjusts.
There's no team in America with Baylor's 2021 guards this year. Or most years for that matter.Quinton said:
Greenberg needs to chill. Our guards from 2021 would absolutely maul Houston. Terrible matchup for them
I didn't take it that way. I think comparisons like that are generally made in relation to a team's contemporaries/peers. And in a year where there are no great teams, Houston's backcourt may be as big a strength for them as ours was for us in 2021.Quinton said:
Uh is an especially terrible matchup. Their scheme falls completely apart against skilled tough guards. We would run them off the floor badly. Davion would maul Shead. Not to mention Butler is better than all of them too.
Greenberg usually knows ball but that was just disrespectful.
But how many of those teams are there this year?IowaBear said:
KU is charmin soft much like BU. Won't be surprised at all to see a Houston win handily Saturday. Then again the zebras might have a say. Teams with elite guards will be Houston's downfall in March. Much like last year. Saw that Miami upset coming a mile away.
That's fair. I would definitely take our 2021 group. But I'd be happy with a group of guards like theirs pretty much any year, too.Quinton said:
Possible but I think he said "who would you take " or something like that. I don't usually care what random dude is saying but that was wild. Greenberg knows better.
Okay I'm good now
I'm not saying they couldn't. Anybody can lose in March.IowaBear said:
Teams built like Miami? Not many, that group of guards was criminally underrated. But teams like UConn, Creighton, UnC among others can absolutely beat this Houston team.

There will eventually be some separation. But there are four or five really good ones and a bunch of teams below that group that aren't too far behind.PartyBear said:
The parity in the XII is incredible. I'm not sure there is a best team they are all so close.
Other than Dennis, who is more crafty than quick, and Little, who is a pretty mediocre athlete by Big 12 standards, I think our guards are pretty quick. I don't think they have good defensive instincts and they play hesitant on that end because of all the switching, but I don't feel like we're really at an athleticism deficit.DanaDane said:
I'm sure I'm just being hypercritical in my mind but every team in the Big 12 looks quicker than us to me, other than maybe Nunn who just looks like his speed is wasted due to lack of control.
We've had teams that did that well in the past. That was the one thing Flo Thamba was actually really good at.DanaDane said:
UH gets more tip out rebounds than anyone I've seen. Another example of hard nosed want to and not giving up even if shorter than others under the rim.
They are, but I don't feel like it's gotten too physical. College basketball has done a pretty good job of cleaning up a lot of the contact. It used to be like watching a high school girls game.DanaDane said:
9 total free throws shot in this game.
They're letting them play. Thank goodness.
