It's not a popular take, I get it.
It's unpopular because it's stupid. Not because it's some brave step out onto a limb.

You keep digging your hole deeper. The scholarships on EJ and Love were not "wasted." Love has been terrific and would've been the Big 12 6th man of the year before injury. The story is not yet written, he still has a chance to come back in the tournament and pick up where he left off.

As for EJ, he has been instrumental in mentoring our 2 young bigs. Every scholarship player will not play huge minutes during the game, but can help in practice and with intangibles and with team culture. His influence has been immense.

CSD runs a culture of joy and will not run off players. The culture of our program is a big reason why we continue to recruit at such a high level.

This deserves more stars. Well said.

CSD said publicly several weeks ago that EJ is transitioning to a player-coach role. So yes, he is mentoring the young guys. That is not a wasted scholarship .

Wouldn't it be cool if somehow EJ ended up on staff like Tweety Carter? Both are Baylor legends and helpful to the program.

Team, Love won us the game @ ucf. A loss there and the season was on the verge of collapse. Just by that game alone, we didn't waste it.

We need to recruit the portal like no tomorrow though, I agree there. But with all the whiffs on scholarships lately, Love is the last guy we should run off.

Agreed. Crawfoso was spot on in that post.

We know CSD will not tip his hand. So we won't really know anything until tipoff on Friday.

I sure hope he can go against Colgate. It would be nice to knock the rust off a little in what should hopefully be a tuneup game.

Get him to the same Russian lab as Ivan Drago used in Rocky 4, and get him ready for UNM\Clemson.

I'm hearing he's practicing this week and how his body responds will determine his availability. It's a positive he is practicing which means he's close, if not ready already.

I have to believe he was held out of the B12 tournament b/c of the meaningless nature of those games. He played (near) full minutes @Tech, and I didn't notice him ever hobbling around or looking like he was in pain.

That's what I'm telling myself at least...

I really don't understand the injury management in this program sometimes. Seemed completely fine at Tech. I don't understand the reports unless he legit reaggravated it or we are milking this for gaming purposes. When we hear this messaging from the program, they typically do not play. Hope its different this time.

There are NHL head coaches more forthcoming on injuries than Drew.

Drew loves to say game time decision then the guy comes out in a boot unable to walk, or he comes out and drops 15.

Lets hope it's the latter this time.

Well, this sucks. While I'm certainly not suggesting we could once again be a first weekend casualty, I'm going to stick with us as a sweet 16 team mainly because we've got the best draw for at least the first two rounds that we've had in a long time. With an 80% or better Love back I felt something more wasn't beyond the realm of possibility, but now I'm feeling like the absolute ceiling is likely the sweet 16 for us.

Is there more to the injury than being let on ? That's a gigantic blow.
Dude just cannot stay healthy.

Yep....same. With Love I thought we had a puncher's chance at E8. Not thinking that any more. S16 would be really great at this point.

The are conflicting reports whether it's the ankle or knee.

Expected with the vague messaging Drew put out on the injury . Goofy sequence of events here considering we played him at Tech. Only conclusion is re-aggravated in that game. Possibly practice but this is just off.

Don't know what the point in playing him @byu and @tech was. Had three situations of strange injury management in the last several years. Hopefully just coincidence and bad breaks.

I think so. Really needed Love's punch to run with Arizona

Poor guy has terrible luck. He's a heck of a player when healthy. This really sucks for him and for the team.

I suppose Miro will get the majority of his minutes. Time to ball out ML.

I appreciate what Little does, but given this news, he's got to figure out a way to provide at least some scoring off the bench. I don't know if it was a fluke, but at least Lohner had more impact in the two Big 12 tournament games than he's had all season, including some scoring. Both of those guys have got to step up in the Dance.

With what is hopefully a more open free flowing style in the tournament, Little needs to open up his game and get aggressive. Nothing to lose at this point. We need it.

Like his feel for the game but understandably hesitant so far. Time to let loose.

did he reaggriave this injury against Tech? Seems fair to question our diagnosis of this from the very beginning? I always thought it looked like a knee injury. Sucks so bad for Langston. Love that kid.

It sucks but I don't think Love could have helped much anyway and might have actually hurt our team rhythm. Would not have had time to find his rhythm again after so many weeks out.

So JTT, Josh, Loemer and Miro are the bench now? Gotta stay out of foul trouble starting 5.

Miro has a nice shot, 37.5% from 3, but doesn't shoot enough. My hope he will help us from perimeter if he can get confidence.

Against TT Love logged 22 minutes and had nine points going 4 for 7 from the field.

He looked fine. I wonder if it stiffened up on him after the game… Or like someone mentioned previously may be a practice re-injury.
