I only caught the second half last night on TV. Why were the Baylor fans booing #2 every time he had the ball?

He's accused of sexually assaulting a minor..granted innocent until proven guilty.
But let's not kid ourselves if he played for Bu he would have been tarred and feathered by now.
Tech continues to play him in an act of desperation. Hopefully it doesn't cost Grant his gig.

The broadcasters made some mention about he's been getting that treatment on the road. So it wasn't just us.

Saw a bunch of these type of responses from TT fans last night

Thank you BOR for the WSJ article.

Also did a "no means no" chant and a "17" chant. One of the good things about students being close to court is better heckling.

Weird… who are these 31 players convicted ? I only know of 2. One of which never played a down at BU

Ask the BOR....they must know

The kids chanting this were 12 or 13 years old when Briles resigned. A bunch of them probably don't know who he is. But an alleged r*pist was on the court, so they knew to chant. Good on them.

Briles never played a player accused of SA.

I still remember WVU fans giving our bball team total hell with "no mean no" chants and the like in 2017. Of course our bball team had nothing to do with the allegations.

The boos last night were directed right at the alleged responsible party.

To say the least, it's absurd to believe Briles coached teams that were full of rapists when at the end of the day there was a grand total of 2 convictions (and as you indicate, Sam, U never played a down of football for us).

Ahh yes. But I thought he was found not guilty ? That case always reeked of a money grab. She seemed bat **** crazy.

I only know of 1 actual conviction (Tevin Elliott). I assume the other player you're referring to that never played in a game for BU is Sam U, who was ultimately never convicted. To say the least, it's absurd to believe Briles coached teams that were full of rapists and at the end of the day there was a grand total of 1 conviction.
It went back and forth....but ultimately Sam U was convicted. This article is from Sept 2023. He's still seeking to have the conviction over turned. He's now 30 and has served his jail time.

They actually played around with that. Notice it says "accusations" and not "convictions". So they can say they are telling the truth even though they know the facts are way different from the impression. Pathetic misdirection.

I went back and edited my post after re-researching it (I thought his case got thrown out or something to that effect but he apparently did ultimately did get convicted of second-degree sexual assault).

Since we're talking about the US mainstream media, that's not surprising at all.

And it would be just as wrong as it was when we did it. In America i thought we were innocent until proven guilty.

We didn't play any players suspected of rape. Unless I'm missing one?
And you're right innocent until proven guilty. But this is a very serious accusation that Tech seems to want swept under the rug

2 convictions. We got more Big12 championships than that

I'm not sure it's great to brag about "only 2 convictions." I also don't think it's all that great to chant these things from the stands, after all Baylor endured from 2016 on and since real human victims are likely involved.

I don't think Pop Isaacs should be playing as this plays out, but I am so far removed that my opinion is worthless. The head coach has to make a judgment call, and it ought to be a moral one. My impression is that Grant McCasland is a good person and would want to do the right thing morally. But at the same time, I'd guess 99% of coaches would make the decision based on win potential instead of morals, so it's hard to give the benefit of the doubt.

I agree. Using sexual assault as ammunition for sports trash talk and fan chants is gross.

I felt that way when others were doing it to us. And I feel that way when we're doing it to others.

I bring up the 2 convictions because it is nothing compared to the numbers proposed by the media. Just about every school has had similar numbers (cough cough SEC) but no one talks about it

Not in the court of public opinion

Look at how courts and public opinion handle OJ and Trump.

Public opinion has always been that you have a limited IQ. Until your confession, it was just conjecture.

I'm all for boos. The louder the better.

I can do without the shouts of "no means no" and "17, 17, 17" or whatever.

Those shouts, as a group, make us hypocrites along with all the fans we despised for getting onto our football players. I don't want to be lumped in with them.
