Yes, I remember that guy and those teams when I was at Baylor in the 1990s. Those were some truly dreadful teams. Back then I would have given my left nut to get an NIT bid. Our newer fans truly don't appreciate where CSD has taken our program from the days of Harry Miller and Dave Bliss. Now we have people complaining about us getting one-and-dones and losing in the first or second round of the tourney.DanaDane said:

Absolutely. I bet he was thinking of Harry's final year, the next year 98-99, "post-Skinner."Stefano DiMera said:
Dreadful? Those 90s teams would crush the mid 80s dredge of Haller I followed as a student.
Those 90s teams coached by Darrell Johnson were our version of run and gun UNLV

Yep. Loved those teams. I worked in the sports info department and with Frank Fallon those years. One of those years we had a bench clearing scuffle almost every game .
I tell people Iba had a chip on his shoulder because he made 87k a year.
Banks was going to be so good. SWC Freshman of the Year. Such a tragic deal. One of his teammates, Nelson Haggerty also recently died in a car wreck on 380, after leaving UNT. He was coaching with McCasland.Crawfoso1973 said:
I got there around the Harry Miller days. We had a great freshman I think named Banks who legit had NBA potential, but was killed in a car crash I think after his freshman year. He was a wing player in the Paul Pierce mode who I saw take over games with his scoring. Was our only scoring threat and would overcome double and triple teams and still light it up. He was awesome his freshman year.

I suffered through the mid 80s as well, but we did have two years of good teams that seemed to come out of nowhere in 86 and 87. Michael Williams and Darrell Middleton were both drafted, and Williams had a decent NBA career. Then the bottom fell out and we were even worse than before.
In the late 60's a second place finish to TCU in a very bad conference was the highlight...............of the entire athletic program.DanaDane said:
So hard to fathom what all of y'all went through in the 70s, 80s and 90s. I know I'm spoiled that my recollection of Baylor basketball is pretty much limited to the Drew era.

Dana Dane, You missed some of the greatest shows on earth back when the Bears played in the Heart of Texas Colosseum. I loved the smell of manure in the evening.DanaDane said:
