Were you a freshman in 85-86 when we got put on probation and players suspended? I remember that year that the announced attendance for a Saturday afternoon game vs. Tech at HOT was 975.Stefano DiMera said:

83-84 was my freshman year but yeah I remember that year vividly too .
Weird thing is we would pack the joint for Phi Slamma Jamma.
And I remember it packed when #3 TCU came to town and Jamie Dixon (the best shooter I'd ever seen in college) missed a 30 ft at buzzer and I experienced my first court storming.
I went to a December Saturday game in Scott Drew's first year against UTSA that couldn't have possibly had more than 500 people in attendance. We lost 53-45.whitetrash said:Were you a freshman in 85-86 when we got put on probation and players suspended? 1982. I was 4th row behind the basket where it happened.Shakesbear said:
When did Wacker go down for UT when they were top 10? I was there for that one
Mostly general public there for the UH game. Remember back in those days nobody in this part of the country except UH and Arkansas (and on very rare occasions UT) ever even came close to being ranked.historian said:
That was my freshman year too but I wasn't a sports fan so did not attend any basketball games. The only time I went to HOT was graduation. I did attend the grand opening of the Ferrell Center in the Spring of 1988 when Pres Reagan gave a speech.
Was the sellout for Phi Slamma Janna largely Houston fans? Or was it a lot of Baylor fans & general public there for the celebrity & sensational?
LOL! I was in the same spot, but on the sideline inside the FT line. I remember watching Wackers knee crumble, him hitting the floor and grabbing his knee and screaming at the top of his lung but you couldn't hear a thing as the crowd had erupted in a cacophony of noise. Huge upset for the Bears! On a tangent note, I also remember competing in the "Bear Downs" bicycle races in the HOT. Some pretty crazy short track sprint races and spectacular crashes when it was held in the HOTwhitetrash said:1982. I was 4th row behind the basket where it happened.Shakesbear said:
