Realistically, we've only had one "bad" game all year

As we start shifting toward odds in the tourney, I think it's relevant that the Michigan State game three months ago was the only time where we just didn't really show up in 30 games. We've had stretches of games where the lights went out, like the first half of the first half against Houston, but there was always a recovery sprint behind it. There are maybe three or four games all year we haven't had a shot to win inside the last minute.

Our losses this year aside from that one:
- 8 points
- 4 points
- 2 points
- 3 points
- 3 points
- 7 points
- 6 points

Fran said it on the Texas broadcast, but our consistency in always being in games even when a facet of your game is way off is a hugely important trait for teams that go deep in March. I'm definitely more optimistic about this team's chances to advance through the second weekend than I was about last year's team.

And perhaps most importantly, the team seems to have learned how to win and keep a lead

That is a big
One

There were times we could not keep a lead like the TCU game here when we
Were up by double digits

It has been a season of nail biters. I would add the Kansas State game in the bad category as well. We had that game won and let it get away. But, it wasn't a blowout. I like this team and how they are maturing.

I've been saying this to everyone. We're the only team in the Big 12 who hasn't lost a conference game by double digits. I've seen so many really good teams in the last month get their doors blown off, UConn included. We're in every game (except MSU). Obviously in a one and done scenario, we can still lose by a point, and the season is over. But I like the fact that we will most likely have a chance to win every game we play in the last two minutes.

I think 3 of our losses were overtime losses. We tend to play to the level of our opponent and let off the gas when we get a lead.

Fun Fact: The 2010 team (Tweety, Udoh, Lace, Acy) never lost a game by more than 7 pts. The entire season.

I get the point, but being close in points doesn't mean we didn't have a bad game. I would argue the Duke, K State game, home vs TCU, and first UT game, were all bad games from this team. We were in those games in spite of ourselves not because we were playing hard and keeping it close.

Maybe with the exception of Duke those should have all been wins. This team has a high ceiling and quite frankly can roll the ball out and keep up with the average NCAA team. The problem is they can't roll the ball out and win most games, so a bad game for us in my mind can also be a close loss to an inferior team.

Ha, that was the first thing I thought of. I knew we had a good team - damn good players, but also the intangibles, including leadership.

They were a call away from winning it all. And they would have won the whole thing in 2010. No doubt in my mind.

This team isn't built the same, but they're improving at the right time of year. We haven't seen our "A+" yet, but we're trending the right direction.

My hope after the UH game was that Drew told them in the locker room, "If that's the #1 team in the country, we're right there." And we were. Don't fear anybody, but don't take anyone lightly.

Two. Both the Michigan State and Kansas State games were objectively bad.

Ignoring the score, we played like deep fried dog **** in that game.

Our formula's pretty simple. We can score on everyone and we struggle to stop anyone. That keeps us from getting blown out but also generally keeps us from blowing others out.

We're also a very resilient team -- as we've been most year's under Drew. We're a hard team to put away.

Come tourney time, just gotta have a six game winning streak. That's all there is to it.

100% agreed with the resiliency piece. Even thought we are a flawed team, and a terrible defense team, it's not from lack of effort or want-to. This is a mentally tough team which always plays with high effort, if not always high IQ. When things go awry I don't see any negative body language or pouting which wasn't the case last year.

I don't know if we're the type of team to do that. But I don't think we'll have another Creighton-type game this year.

I fully expect Baylor to win today, have a decent showing in KC, & get to the second weekend in the NCAA's. These are reasonable expectations and definitely doable.

Both our Elite 8 teams lost to the national champion. We were that close those years. We could lose any time this year, but we are in the ballpark to go a long way too. It will a fun few weeks!

No one can convince me otherwise if we get a fairly called game in Houston (or heck even just flip one horrific call) that that team wouldn't have steam rolled all the way to the Natty in 2010. That team was incredibly good
