That's a bold prediction given our history in the Big 12 tournament -- and the massive fan advantage Kansas and Iowa State have at that event. I hope he's right.

We didn't win the XII when we won the National Title.

We won the regular season title that year. We've never won a Big 12 tournament title. We've only reached the championship game three times -- in 2009, 2012 and 2014.

Our overall record in the tournament is 17-23. After Kansas, which is a remarkable 47-12, no other current Big 12 team has a better winning percentage at the Big 12 tournament than Texas' .549.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I think these conference tournaments are stupid - but maybe the better word is meaningless. The conference champion is the winner of the regular season - the tournament is just another way for the conference to make a few bucks - which is fine I guess but I could not care any less about who wins a conference tournament.

People say this every year. It's not going to change. The teams might like the opportunity to hang another banner & display another trophy. They also might like the additional practices before the big dance and the possibility to boost their resume. But mostly it's about the $$$$ for the conference & the schools. They are not going away.

Hard disagree. I'd really like to win a conference tourney. Only 1 team can win the natty, and most don't really even have a chance. The opportunity to win a conference tourney means something, especially in these unfortunate times of conference expansion where you don't play everyone twice. In the 10-team B12 with a double round robin, it was maybe not "necessary", but it was still far from meaningless.
