I wasn't able to watch the game - what was the injury to Missi? Any post-game info on the injury?

Some kind of rib injury. Drew said it was bothering him even before the game.

Thanks ursa - I'm guessing the BU Quarterback room has some flak jackets lying around they could send to Memphis.

He's been wearing that thing around his torso on the bench for the last few games or so.

I was surprised we didn't see Jon get any PT until garbage time. I would have liked to have seen him and also Caleb get some more minutes to get more game time situation practice. If Missi can't play many minutes we are going to need minutes from Jon and Caleb.

I think by now they both know how to play. And if we are needing big minutes from EJ, we're in big trouble anyway. At most he is only capable of 5-7 minutes even if Missi is injured.

I know they know how to play, but I think coming in for 5-7 minutes yesterday for Jon would have been really helpful. Having not played for a while it can just be helpful to get back in a rhythm. If Missi can't go on Sunday then we are going to have to use him earlier in the game.

Missi is soft. Josh came in and added a spark - I would like to see him get more minutes...

Neither plays post d super great. Colgate bigs ate their lunch with their post moves. The one starting center for Colgate had some Kevin McHale type moves. I was pretty impressed with their big men overall. Very skilled just not overly athletic.

Colgate had a great game plan, if they were able to make early outside shots - this game might have been different. We lack a true 5 but Josh was extremely active up and down the floor.

???

He's far from soft. Dude plays with an edge, and he hasn't missed a game all year.

His inexperience is often his downfall, but when he's "on" there's no other player like him in the tournament. I think he's the key to a deep run.

Missi isn't soft, he is just very inexperienced. I know there is no chance he stays, but I really think he could be a number 1-2 pick if he stayed and showed the same progress as we have seen this year. He would also be a big focus of the offense and have a great PG to get him the ball.

If he will be a first rounder he has to go. Returning *could* help him move up a few spots, but the injury risk would be a foolish gamble. Look no further than what happened to EJ and how his promising career was ruined by injury.

That Keegan Records dude in the paint for Colgate is a fifth year senior. So he's probably around 23 years old....and he's 6' 10" 250 lbs.

He was backing Missi down....but that's a grown ass man on a teenager.

I try to avoid personal attacks but this is a moronic uninformed dumb ass take. Kid is very young and needs to add weight and strength but not even close to soft. He plays hard and has an edge to him.

I agree with this take except the moronic dumb ass part.

I would add, same applies to Walter. Walter has many holes in his game but he always plays balls out and brings so many positive intangibles. When shots aren't falling you see the same effort and body language and perfectly fits our culture of JOY. We are blessed and fortunate to have both of those guys with us for their one year. Hopefully we get to see them 2, 3, or 4 more games in the green and gold.

Neither freshman is soft. They're just physically immature compared to their peers, and it shows up on the defensive end, especially.

I will say our team's defensive intensity is severely lacking as a whole, and this tournament has served to shine a spotlight on that fact.

Watching the way other teams get after their opponents defensively serves as a stark contrast to what we do for all but about six or seven minutes of every game. But there aren't many teams in this tournament that can score the way we can either, so I guess it's a give and take.

I wouldn't even say our team lacks intensity on the defensive end. The effort and intensity are there. What we lack is technique, and personnel with natural defensive skill and instincts. Contrary to popular belief, defense is not all about effort and intensity. It is also about aptitude and instinct. Just as some players are more skilled offensively, others are more naturally skilled defensively. Our recruiting is based on how guys fit into our offensive system and we do not recruit guys based on their aptitude on the defensive end. But, I suppose that's a topic for another thread.

If we get to the Final Four it will be a miracle. Maybe we shouldn't press our luck.

We must defeat Clemson first. Then we can focus on the next game.

I disagree with your exception.

"moronic uniformed dumb ass take" was the perfect description.

Missi plays soft. He was being schooled by 1-2 stars players from Colgate. That's not a uniformed dumb ass take.

Take your Baylor sunshine pumper glasses off - - You all have been complaining this year about him needing to step up and be more of a post presence...He was non existence against U of H.....Stop making excuses.

Agreed, he was being schooled by the Colgate bigs. Those guys were 4-5 years older than him. He is still very raw and has only been playing organized basketball 3 or 4 years. He is extremely inexperienced and still only 19 years old....which does not make him "soft." Those are facts, not excuses.

I disagree. Effort and intensity aren't the same thing IMO. This team plays hard by its standards, but I don't think it has any concept of how intense you have to be on the defensive end to consistently make stops.
