I was told On3 is not a very accurate site to get news from. I'm just saying what Tech sources are saying on this insiders site I pay for. They have been wildly accurate about their predictions and their news. If they are wrong on this then it'll be the first time. I can promise you he's visiting Tech this weekend though. They did say it seems that he canceled the Baylor visit for the Tech visit so it wasn't necessarily a matter of fact statement in that regard.

Choosing to believe this is a good thing. Doesn't make sense not to consider an elite program that is wide open at that spot. There were a number of very high level D1 wings that entered at the buzzer. Remaining optimistic one of those is now in play causing the UNCW transfer to move on.

Tech was also supposedly in on the NM wing who is probably better player with more years to play. Something might shift there.

In fairness, we don't know that he rejected us. We don't know who canceled his visit. I know there are other small/combo forwards we are interested in. If we get a commitment from one of those in the near future, there's a fair chance we invited him to pursue other options because we got our guy.

And I'm high on White, so this isn't a comment on him or his skill set at all. I would have loved to have had him. But our staff often values different skills and attributes than I do when looking at recruits. I don't think it's impossible that that's the case here as well.

This actually makes me think the smoke is real and a commit is coming fairly soon. Was told Tuesday a player was coming and didn't sound like White. I know this site is always spinning but this actually makes me think Bu pivoted.

If we really aren't making any big signings Roach is going to be wondering what he was thinking. Don't think that will be the case. The staff is coming in strong.. can't see them rolling out the current roster + two also run transfers.

You don't tell someone to cancel their visit without a firm commitment from who would take their place, if we do that then we're really bad at recruiting.

It's also unlikely if he was really interested in us but then got turned down he'd suddenly replace us with a visit to somewhere else he had supposedly ruled out.

Sure sounds like Tech is desperate for him and got out the brinks truck and we were 3rd on that list of 3.

How are we not even getting a visit up against these non basketball schools??

I find it just as unlikely that a guy posts a top-three and then drops the most prominent of those programs and his visit to that place in a span of a couple of days without there being some catalyst for that change.

We don't have unlimited NIL money and our biggest remaining holes are at the power forward and post positions. With a three-guard lineup that will feature Edgecombe and Love prominently at the three, I think it's possible we've decided to prioritize a frontcourt room that only currently includes Ndjonga at the power forward position and Ojianwuna at the post.

Almost all of the small forwards we were rumored to be in on were never great fits for us. And while White was a better fit for a forward position than Sion James or Kadary Richmond, who are both shooting guard size, White (at 190 pounds) is still more of a small forward than a power forward, which is what we really need.

If we don't make a splash in the front court in the next week or two I'll start having some mild concern over our transfer portal situation. But there are still a lot of pieces out there that can help us in the places we need help the most.

Agreed. Weird for a guy to no show at the 11th hour unless we didn't meet NIL demands, playing time demands (not sure how we couldn't meet that), or were up front that we were talking with other forwards in the portal. This could play back into the playing time demands.

Perhaps that position is filled at Baylor, but not yet announced.

It does seem strange but there may be factors we haven't considered. Last Summer, we found out Missi was moving up a year and would be coming in the fall. There are lots of reasons why a prospect does or does not visit. Competing and possible sharing time with 5* freshman might be factors.

Also, Miami Herald is reporting Omier is looking between St. John's and Baylor.

Omier supposedly went into the portal with a DNC because basically several east coast recruiting pubs revealed St. John's had talked him into it so I am not sure how we would suddenly be involved but that would be fantastic if it is true. Ironically St. Johns is also the one who reportedly talked Cliff into entering the portal from Rutgers and yet they ended up losing him to Alabama so all of this continues to be wild wild west stuff with no controls or guardrails over anything. This is great!

If Omier is also looking then makes sense for White to focus his time elsewhere especially if we told him we're open to other forwards

I'd imagine! He's more of a PF. But he will allow us to play small when needed. Check out some tape of Miami's F4 team that'll give you a great idea of what he's capable of. VERY VERY good player. Rebounds well, very physical, brings an edge, decent defender, crafty offensively. The ceiling for BU24/25 just got raised significantly

The big from UK is who I'm hoping for. Pair with Josh and we got some serious talent at the 5. Gonna be a stacked squad next year loaded with experience

Still looking up at KU, but if we get a 5, we're solidly even with ISU and Houston for second best squad (on paper) in the conference. And that's with Arizona joining, too.

I'd put us even with those two as it stands. (Maybe a homer pick) I do think we need a solid 5 to pair with Josh to put us level with KU. There's some sneaky good 5's left in the portal that could really solidify this roster

Dickinson is overrated, to me. Skilled offensive player, but he can't defend worth a damn, and he isn't a guy who is going to elevate a team, in my opinion. Gets his numbers, but he doesn't make the guys around him better.

So, I'm not concerned about him, per se, but they've just put so many dang shooters around him this coming season that I can't see them not winning the league, barring injury or awful chemistry.

Chemistry is what I'm wandering about. They brought in a bunch of dudes who are used to taking loads of shots. Someone's gonna have to take a back seat… is it Storr? Mayo? Griffen? Kungel?
Kungel and Mayo can't defend worth a darn either. They'll be able to score with anyone but they're going to give up loads of points this coming year

I'm not as high on Storr as everyone else is. He was kind of a volume scorer last year and he doesn't really do anything but score. I'm sure he'll be good at Kansas, but there are a lot of players in this portal class I like more.

Different player but absolute best forward available in the portal. Physically dominated Houston a little over a year ago. Special signing.

Omier is really really good, probably the best forward in the big 12.
