Our team looks very good this year but as of yet we have no reason to believe they are as good as the natty team. They certainly have great potential. It still needs to be proven. The 2021 squad was almost identical to the 2020 team whose post season dreams were destroyed by covid. That 2019-20 season was the best one in Baylor history, until the 2020-21 team surpassed their achievements. It was a generational team that probably is one of the best ever.

I admit to not doing enough research yet, but my assumption is that most of Gonzaga is returning from last year's team while this is our first real game together for most of these players. Am I right in my assumption or nah?

Zags are breaking in two new transfer starters. But everyone else returned.

I'd imagine it'll take a few weeks for all of our new parts to find a rhythm with each other.

Fran Fraschilla said he expects Robert Wright to play extremely well this year and compared him to Collin Sexton. He said he doesn't expect him to be one and done because he's only 6' 1", but that he is a very talented player. Some of you will get to see tonight. I'm recording the game and watching tomorrow.

This is a national title contender with some seasoning. I think everyone sees that.

But rolling experienced teams early in a road game at midnight is very very hard. If you're right this team will be great.

Aged well...

The coaching staff was absolutely schooled and not getting another big looks like a mistake. Still can't coach D for 3 yrs running.

Now was that the worst possible situation to put a team that clearly isn't ready in.. yes. Shouldn't have played it. But it exposed. A great team doesn't lose huge like this. The Marquette game and Michigan St games should never happen. Losing by 10-15 happens 35+ should never.

I'll never understand not getting another legit Center. Didnt need to be a stud by any means but another serviceable big seemed like a must.
I mentioned it in the game thread. If we're going to continue the strategy of completely overhauling the roster yearly than I hope Drew dials it back in the non con. This beatdown will do this team zero good.

Same. I like the two bigs we have, but you need more than two bigs on your roster.

Playing Celestine at the four was never a viable strategy, and he showed why last night. We literally only have two players on this roster who can guard the post.

If we had a veteran team that had been playing together, I'd have no problem playing this game, but that obviously wasn't the case with this team and all the new faces.

I know Few is his good friend, so he agreed to do this. Never mind that we've now played in Spokane three times and they have yet to come to Waco.

I can just about guarantee you that Drew won't open in basically a true road game with a raucous crowd again. Makes no sense. No beatdown is worth the NIL we got from this.

Probably within reach. Good example of a fit too. Should have pushed. You wasted all the other money not to round out the roster.

I still think they'll improve but something is off with the program. Needed to bring in a drill sergeant defensive guy a la Iowa st / Uh to break out of this malaise.

All that said should have never played a seasoned team on the road at midnight. I thought they would lose but to that degree is coaching.. pretty simple.

Hopefully we will play them in Waco or Dallas in 2025 or 2026. Preferably both.
