Baylor (18-12, 10-9) picks up its fifth straight win at Fort Dixon against TCU (16-14, 9-10). The Bears were led by Norchad Omier (19 points, 12 rebounds) and VJ Edgecombe (18 points, 7 rebounds).
Good
- It should cement Baylor’s NCAA tournament resume. Undefeated in March, baby!
- Three top 20 KenPom officials. I thought they were outstanding in the last 2.2 seconds of the game.
- Vasean Allette was clutch down the stretch. He finished with double nickels in fouls and turnovers. Great job by Rob Wright (Fr.) to draw contact and get to the foul line with the game on the line.
- Baylor played hard, and the defensive effort was great outside of our terrible job keeping TCU off the offensive glass (20 offensive rebounds).
- Norchad Omier (19 points, 12 rebounds), VJ Edgecombe (18 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists) and Wright (11 points, 7 assists) all came up big on the offensive end.
Needs Work
- The basketball IQ can be maddening at times. Silly turnovers, lack of awareness of shot clock situations, losing focus on out-of-bounds plays... Baylor was fortunate that TCU struggled on the offensive end.
- Scott Drew's teams are at their best when they have balanced scoring. I’m asking the March leprechauns for Jayden Nunn (Sr.), Jeremy Roach (5Sr.), Langston Love (RJr.) and Jalen Celestine (Sr.) to find consistency with their shots. I was told, “They make them in practice.” It's been a frustrating year from a shot consistency standpoint.
Great win!
