Do we have any info on the extent of VJ's injury?

If you look at the video of him hobbling around with just the taped ankle after the game, there's almost no way he can play effectively on that for at least 5-10 days at the soonest. Even with cushioned wraps, his ability to push off from the ground and leap or to make lateral cutting movements will likely be rendered ineffective and those are the primary basis for his entire game.

Yep. In handshake line he was really hobbling

Anyone see how he hurt it or know the extent of it?

We have zero shot of making the tournament if this is a multi-week thing. In the short term 2 of our next 3 games are @ Texas Tech and @ Houston. We have no chance in those 2 games without VJ.

We started the season with eight or nine playable players, one of which already had an extensive injury history. We didn't leave ourselves much margin for error.

But the mounting injuries certainly haven't helped our cause.

Yeah, his game is so reliant on his quickness and athleticism that he'd lose a lot of what makes him special playing at half-strength.

It's probably best just to let him get as close to 100 percent as possible over the next week or two so this doesn't nag the rest of the season. Unfortunately, we can't really afford that as a team -- though Saturday's win gives us more margin for error than we had before it.

He rolled his ankle pretty good on that awkward take to the rim.

It didn't look horrible, but you could see both where the injury occurred and that it was really painful.

You think he's out for the season?

I doubt it. It didn't look like he broke it or anything. It looked like a pretty normal twist or sprain.

But those things hurt like hell and they can nag for a long time if not given proper rest.

He will be back when he can be back….if you don't want to tell us anything, come up with something better than that.

He will. It will convert to the usual "game time decision" we've seen with Akinjo, Cryer, Love, Roach and many others soon.

So it'll be weeks. Well, we will always have the Kansas and St. John's games.

Drew's comment about VJ is a not-so-subtle swing at someone else on the roster IMO.

It's 100% a swing at LL and Roach. It's pretty clear Drew is frustrated at this point especially concerning Langston.

Back to VJ and his condition.

If reports around campus from those who have seen him are true, then I don't expect to see him Saturday either, which is reasonable give that it generally takes at least 5-10 days for a tweaked ankle and you don't want to come back too early and aggravate it. He'll probably dress out and be ready for limited action, but that would likely transpire only in a dire circumstance. I suspect he'll be ready to go (but maybe not 100%) next Monday night in Houston.
