While Roach hasn't been the team carrying superstar that I think he may have been brought in to be, he provides an interesting study. His numbers were actually pretty good pre-concussions, although it was evident then he really wasn't a game changing point guard. He is/was/will be best as a #2. His post concussion stats and overall play and seemingly on-court attitude for awhile there seemed pretty bad. Then, the last couple of games we've seen a version of Roach that at least looks much more like the early season version. (Offensively; defensively he's been pretty marginal all year)
All of this makes me wonder about the impact of the two concussions. Was the head trauma perhaps more than the medical professionals or even Roach himself realized or the recovery period longer than anticipated? Could he just now be getting close to being 100% and that explains the performance gains the past 2 games? I'm hoping what we've seen the past 2 games continues to grow. We certainly need it from him.
He seemed to be moving and reacting much better yesterday. Jeremy is a good, complimentary player, but was never the best player on the court for Duke. I am often amazed at the hype we tend to give new players coming in.
