Anyone have the picture of him making that awesome block? I can't find it.

I just saw greatness! Heat win. Mitchell hits three threes in OT and defense.

He needed to play with a team that believes in defense. The first 2 that signed him didn't. Nice to see he has found a place to shine.

Hopefully he'll be part of their plans next year. They'll be looking to find another big fish to get better, so I hope he's not part of a trade package.

He's a free agent, so they'll have decide whether or not they want to pay him market rate to re-sign him. Probably $10-12mm annually. I hope he stays with Miami. He could be a Second Team All-Defense type player in their system.

He's bound to be getting attention. Some NBA execs are watching and wondering, "What's all that stuff he's doing when they don't have the ball?"

I'm watching the end of the Dan LeBatard watch along. The co-host said "Mitchell just looks like Heat culture!"

Davion's one of my favorite Baylor players ever. It's cool to see him coming into his own in the NBA after a frustrating start to his career.

He's also a lesson to other players that if you have an elite skill, it will buy you time to find the right fit in the league. Too many guys go into the NBA with a developing game that never develops enough to become an asset at that level. As a result, they get chewed up and spit out in three years and are playing overseas from then on.

Davion's defensive ability bought him time to refind his groove offensively, and he's finally looking like the player we all thought he could be in Miami, which has committed to him in a way his other two organizations wouldn't.

Pretty cool stuff for a guy who has worked his ass off to become the player he has.

We were so blessed to have "off night" when we did!

I hope we cdd as n continue to recruit players with his defensive skills and mindset.

Davion was as good a defensive pg I have seen at the college level. You can create a short list of the very best, he's on it. You can look a long time before finding someone close to that good again.

I would add that on another thread, there was talk about a prominent guard that wants $4mm, and insists on playing the point (when the pro scouts say he isn't one yet). Mitchell was always the undersized point who was a good defender but didn't have a shot. When Auburn was looking at a bigger pg, he transfers to here. No NIL, sits for a year before he could play, willing to share the pg with Butler. He took the time to work on his shot. Davion made himself into a first round draft pick, with the help of an NC run. If anyone sees a player with that kind of drive and work ethic, let the Coaches know. Scott Drew knows what to do with that.

That's the key: Mitchell combined great natural talent & athleticism with ambition, drive, & tons of hard work. That's why he was a lottery pick and is beginning a NBA star now.

I'd put him and Jamal Shead near the top, and the crazy thing is both of those guys started the season on the Toronto Raptors this year.

I'm enjoying watching Davion Mitchell & the Heat vs Cavs. Unfortunately surly they are about to go down in a big way but Davion is doing what he can to keep them in it.
