Baylor fifth-year guard JJ White is set to miss the rest of the season with a foot injury, head coach Scott Drew officially announced on Monday.
White injured his foot in Baylor’s 81-74 win over Creighton on Nov. 24. Through four games, White was averaging 1.5 points and 6.5 minutes; he was 2-for-6 from beyond the arc.
White’s injury was a big blow to Baylor’s overall shaky roster depth. There was initially some thought that he could return in February, but that didn’t prove to be the case, with Drew saying, “He’s tried to come back. It looks like he won’t be able to return this year, but not by a lack of effort.”
White, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard, was Omaha’s second leading scorer last season, averaging 13.7 points per game on 49% shooting from the field, 80% from the free-throw line and 44% from beyond the arc. The First-Team All-Summit League guard also averaged four assists and 2.6 rebounds in 27 minutes per game.
