I understand it to be a charitable contribution. I could be wrong.
I understand it to be that way as well. at least one of the organization is a charity..
The money is certainly no sweat to him. He was wise to manage it up front and not argue it. But knowing him it's because he has political ambitions. The radio interview this week with one of the alleged victims was interesting. She didn't come across as unrealistic, unhinged, or deranged. Not that I know all the facts or circumstances, but Mark flaunts things and doesn't care, so I don't think he's contrite one bit. But who really is?
In 2012, he was quoted as saying he'd only broken even with the Mav's in three of the past five years. So I certainly wouldn't assume he owns a franchise for profit. It's my understanding he wants to be commissioner of the NBA and is willing to pay heavily to make that happen.
Even if the Mavericks are dragging, his other investments can carry this..
