Coach Drew talks Oklahoma win with Motley and Acuil
Johnathan Motley & Jo Lual-Acuil - Start-3:09
Coach Scott Drew - 3:10-End
“For sure, we definitely wanted to pick up our defensive intensity. We did a good job meeting shots at the top of the rim and blocking ‘em. Just making them take tough twos and that was the game plan.”
On the impact of Manu Lecomte’s back-to-back three-pointers
“He’s a big shot-maker. Whenever we need a big shot like that, we know Manu’s gonna take it. So we’ve got full confidence in him. He comes through.”
“It’s just scouting report, and the coaches do a good job showing us what kind of tendencies the players have. And we just dive into film and before we go out there, we know what they’re gonna do.”
“I know I’m pleased to hold them to 32 percent. You don’t hold many Big 12 teams to 32 percent and 54 points.”
On the surprising lack of impact from the team’s injuries
“Following the Kansas game we had Jo, Ish (Wainwright), and Manu all didn’t practice Sunday and Monday, and were questionable coming into today’s game with ankles, ankles, and a calf injury. So I thought they played well considering they were banged up.”
On Manu Lecomte stepping up for back-to-back threes
“That was huge and we’d like to run some stuff for him but he couldn’t get separation, couldn’t really move like he’s capable of moving. That’s a real compliment to his toughness because if you just came to the game, you wouldn’t have known he was injured.”
On Al Freeman’s impact coming back to the court
“I though Al was really good defensively. Really good. And I know he played within himself as a good teammate. He’s done a great job since he’s been back (at practice), so he deserved the opportunity.”
