Hardwood Podcast: Baylor's 2022 Recruiting Class

The Bears reload with another top 20 recruiting class.  The headliner is Keyonte George, a consensus top 5 player.  But Dillon Hunter and Joshua Ojianwuna are oozing with potential and are perfect fits for Baylor.

Here’s a look at the three signees with a quick synopsis of what each player will bring to the table.

Keyonte George

The player that will receive the most attention in this class is Keyonte George a 6-5 200 lb combo guard who has everything you are looking for in a guard- size, speed, athleticism, range.  George has NBA range on his 3 point shot.  He can get to the rim and score through contact.  He’s a good passer and ball-handler.  Bradley Beal and D’Angelo Russell are some NBA comparisons that have been tossed out.  He’s a top 5 prospect for a reason.

Dillon Hunter

Hunter reminds me of Tyrese Haliburton in that he is long, can defend, pass, handle the ball and make 3s.  He's not as consistent of a shooter as Tyrese is at this point but a grittier defensive player.  At 6-4 190 lbs, he has potential to be a lockdown defensive guard who is a tough guy to handle when he drives.  If his three point shot becomes consistent, watch out.

Joshua Ojianwuna

The most under the radar player in this class, Joshua will remind Baylor fans of a taller version of Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua.  He plays with a high motor and understands his role as a “big”.  For that reason, he was Baylor's top target in this class at the post.  He's an outstanding rim roller, rebounder, defender and pick setter.  His athleticism and quickness make him an attractive pro prospect as his game matures.  At 6-10 230 lbs, Josh has been at the NBA Global Academy in Canberra, Australia honing his skills.  But has gone under the radar some as Australia shut down competition due to Covid in the last 6 months.

I think we're going to have a real chance to get back to the Final Four next year. It's possible this season, but next year is really looking like it might be quite a good one.
