Also wondering if WBB reached out and was going to bring her back to Waco? Seems like a great opportunity to bring back our best WBB ever and reunite her with Baylor and show our support.
Totally agree.Ghostrider said:

CNC has indicated numerous times that plans are in the works but it has just been a scheduling issue. At the service just before Christmas celebrating her return at University Baptist Church, she indicated that she didn't know if that would happen at the Ferrell Center or at the new arena. I know that BG has reposted on social media stuff from CNC and Baylor WBB, and that Coach Collen was one of the people Cherelle Griner thanked in her post after BG's release. So the relationship is there.Ghostrider said:

Aside from (maybe) RG3, no other BU athlete elevated the attention to a single Baylor sport beyond what it had been before the way she did.

I personally would love to see it happen at the new arena, and for BG to be the first BU player to have their number, not just jersey retired. Aside from (maybe) RG3, no other BU athlete elevated the attention to a single Baylor sport beyond what it had been before the way she did.
Answer what question?Timbear said:
Didn't the no show turnout by Baylor and Waco to welcome Griner back answer the question?
Not that I've protected my anonymity much on these boards over the years (I'm only moderately active anyway), but at risk of doing so here, I'll say that I was one of the people who helped plan this service. Some of your critique here is fair. But there's more to the story.Bone Squad said:
How much promotion did UBC do for that event though? It was scheduled by a college-student based church on a date after the university was was shut down for Christmas break. If you look at the church's Facebook page, you will see where they live-streamed the service, but no Facebook "Event" was set up for it, nor is there a single mention of it coming up. The first I ever heard about it was after it had already happened, and I look at this forum pretty regularly - there was no reference to it here either.
With little to no publicity until after the fact, OF COURSE only 20 people showed up! I don't think that is a good measuring stick for whether Baylor Nation would support her being honored at a game or having her jersey retired in the near future. (Which is not to say there would not be any detractors at all).
I would only retire numbers or jersey's of athletes that actually graduated from Baylorctxbear said:CNC has indicated numerous times that plans are in the works but it has just been a scheduling issue. The question is should/will Griner come back to Baylor. The organizers of her welcome home celebration in Waco received Zero attendance support from Baylor and Waco, remember? Obviously, the Baylor and Waco communities have spoken their decision with their feet. Griner has disavowed Baylor and America by her woke actions, and she's an International embarrassment to Baylor. If she's invited back for one night to have her number retired, fine, but only if Kim is invited back and honored also.
Yeah you're right, I missed that, or forgot about it!Baylorkid said:One-Eyed Wheeler said:I would only retire numbers or jersey's of athletes that actually graduated from Baylorctxbear said:CNC has indicated numerous times that plans are in the works but it has just been a scheduling issue. She did graduate!
