I wouldn't fall in love with her unless we have an ace up our sleeve.
Mom went to UCLA and they live outside of LA in Calf.
Just saying!

Based on what's out there on the internet and chatter on message boards, our best chance will be Mbugua (unranked Espn 100). Looks to be a good fit at BU. Looks good on film. Like her a lot. Hope she recovers quickly from her torn acl. The other 4 recruits--#12 Johnson, #13 Prawl, #15 Davis, #25 Parks--appear to be going elsewhere. Hope I'm wrong and they change their minds after visits.

Between $ demand and handlers, not a path Baylor wants to trod.

Same with the Pauldo's.
Don't think Addie Deal or Jasmine D ever gave us serious consideration. There are a number on that list that I don't think ever visited. Pauldo's visited last fall but definitely seems to be a helicopter situation going on there.

Chavez--don't think Baylor wants any part of her demand of more than $1.3 million NIL. Demanding that much $$ before she even starts HS season and before stepping on college campus is wacko. LSU's Mulkey withdrew offer, she didn't want take any part of that mess, even though they were in final 3. Other schools also staying away. It's now between Texas and Texas Tech, guessing that Texas will have a rich billionaire who will pay that.

Good question, according to Baylor University IRS Form 990, our current Coach was paid appropriately $ 1,180,000. during the business year ending May 2023. The typical pay for WNBA coaches is $ 250,000, to $ 400,000. The WNBA is not a year round job, only about five months long. Becky Hammond is at $ 1,000,000., she was making $800,000. Plus after 6 years as an Assistant Coach with the San Antonio Spurs. The only way for the Aces to hire her was to pay her more. She is often thought of as the first female NBA Coach. I think she is a super coach, she is a hard-ass and Baylor would not hire her for other reasons.

NC has now gotten an extension and a substantial raise. Until a much newer Form 990 is available we will not know her new compensation. There are 11 of the top 50 recruits for 2025 uncommitted. Let's see if we can get one or two more. We have #40, the only Top 100,currently.

Are we getting a good return on our WBB Coach after 42 months on the job. Great person, very pleasant, a true Christian, now is she doing the job for Baylor WBB?

Just received a message from a fellow season ticket holder. He asked me if NC would win a National Championship at Baylor before KM wins two more National Championships at LSU. Not too difficult to answer today.

Last year, I might have been asking those questions myself. But last year changed my opinion. I think the team actually performed very well and Coach Collen coached her tail off in the tourney. We may still get a good recruit or two, but in the age of the portal and NIL, why spend the money on unproven freshmen when you can get an experienced, seasoned player from the portal? And Coach C's experience in the W included taking free agents and assembling a new team every year, which is essentially what the portal has brought to the college game. And lastly, I think Coach is first and foremost, a good learner and a student of the game. I'm excited to see what this year brings on the court and I'm more than willing to let recruiting take a back seat to performance on the court.

I think there are two many variables to make an assessment without knowing the facts and figures around those variables. She obviously has some ability to recruit or we would not have gotten Buggs and Bella in a situation where any pipeline we had or were lining up (and KM was beginning to rely more on the portal than HS recruiting at Baylor, at least that was what it seemed to be) was blown up with the coaching change.

So we had little choice but to go the portal route and then NIL got crazy and you not only had to pay players to get players, but pay players you already had to stay. I suspect that unless you have someone that would be a legacy HS recruit and had dreamed of playing for Baylor for years, you have to pay big to get the top players. And with the unbalanced roster that CNC started with, the portal was and still is critical to filling holes without having to wait two or three years for a HS recruit to be able to perform up to the level of those that can be had through the portal.

What I would like to know is what is our NIL budget for WBB compared to that of our peers. You have to wonder if the attempt to buy our way back into big-time football is taking away dollars that might have been able to have been directed at WBB and we just don't have the dollars available to steer someone to Baylor that in normal situations would not be a problem, but is now a problem because they are offered much more dollars to go elsewhere.

To be honest, I think we were in a situation when the coaching change came out of nowhere and the player departures that resulted because of the coaching uncertainty, if it weren't for the portal we would have completely tanked. We were not going to get HS recruits because they had no idea of how CNC would pan out and free agency transfer was still a few years away. I think our reliance on the portal is less, but still significant, and I just have to wonder if the dollars left to pay, yes pay HS recruits to come to Baylor is up to what it needs to be to pay the going price for top-100 players.......and perhaps because football is taking the vast bulk of the NIL dollars we have?

HS recruiting is far different than it was only a few years ago.

Yeah I think the money is a big factor, especially at that age. I think we will always rely on the portal I don't know a team in the top 25 that doesn't. We will have to win more for players to want to come here. We have to be in the final 2 weekends in NCAA and stay relevant. I think this veteran team will be able to spark something. I have a great feeling but who knows

If you're referring to Grace Knox, a top 15 ranked player in the Class of 2025 from Rancho Cucamonga, California, she has reduced her list to 4 schools.
They are Southern California, Texas, LSU and Tennessee. Some think it's between USC and Texas.
