We need more than Cox scoring points.

I don't recall any Lady Bear game of the past where only one player seemed to dominate the scoring like Talia Scott did tonight. Surely Iowa wasn't that good on defense.

So far this team has been a "one scorer" and "one scorer" only team. Without her 24, 29,& 23 points against Duke, Lindenwood, and UNLV all three of those "close games" would have been losses as well. It's hard to imagine what the final score would have looked like tonight without Scotts awesome contributions. If somebody else doesn't start stepping up, particularly Buggs & Bella, the Big 12 gauntlet could get rough. TCU, ISU, WV, OSU, & possibly even TT are not looking bad.

1. Buggs is too far away from the basket. She is a rebounder. Get her touches inside. She is not a 3pt shooter so she does not need to hang out at the 3pt line.

2. There is no Team Identity other that Scott can score.

3. We needed this. It points out our offensive flaws if we make adjustments.

This team won't finish in the Top 3 in the Big 12. Another long season and early exit from the Tourney...

B12 is incredibly weak. They'll finish 2nd likely.

This team better figure out who can score, quickly. Neither team was verry impressive last night.

This is a one-woman team! Bella had a bad offensive night. Buggs missed more shots than she made. KJ seemed invisible. JVG cannot get a shot off inside the three-point line. They never run plays for Deng and she is our best mid-range shooter and a pretty good three-point shooter. The weakness of the team is lack of a good point guard. I hope we can get it figured out.

I think it was a one-woman team last night, but I think that will prove an outlier.

Buggs missed EVERY shot she took.....and both free throws and Bella was 1-10. Even a poor shooting night from Buggs and Bella, based on their history would have turned into a comfortable win. But what we got was a disastrous shooting night from both. There have been many games where one shot poorly, but the other was OK. When both are not making anything, it makes everything else you want to do, much more defensible for the opponent.

It really hasn't been an outlier all season. Baylor has relied heavily on Scott's scoring all season. That could change. But last night definitely wasn't an outlier

The outlier I was referring to over their careers is Buggs and Bella having abysmal shooting in the same game.

Scoring against Texas is going to be incredibly hard to come by.

Good grief. Texas is not going to beat us by 50 based on any "if". Our defense is not chopped liver.

I just looked at our conference schedule for the first time. That is the gauntlet. We have road games at OSU, ISU, Utah, BYU and WVU with no return games in Waco. We could have a much better team this year than last, yet not do as well. I really hate these unbalanced schedules.

Something can be said about your list of teams. Not that long ago it was Baylor and one other (rotating sometimes) and then a bunch of pushovers. That is no longer the case with OSU, ISU, WVU and TCU all being in the top 25. There was really only one that could challenge us (UT or WVU, primarily). That has really changed regardless of our relative strength across the years. The only upside is that we are now better prepared by conference play for the NCAAs....but the downside is the beating you take getting to the NCAAs.

You are spot on. Great post. Especially when you said, "We could have a much better team this year than last, yet not do as well". I for one thought when I saw the early practices and such that this team had more than last years team. But I haven't been convinced of that after the season started especially considering how Duke is turning out. Bella & Buggs seem to be having a rare "senior slump" so far. They are good enough to come out of that. If they do, things could change for this team. I don't like the fact that Buggs is playing like 5 feet farther out from the basket than in her previous 3 years. It isn't working well for her. She's a little too light to be a full time post but close to the basket is where she shines. I wonder if she wants to play that way or if this is a coaches decision. And yes I too hate the lopsided scheduling now. It can almost make or break your season. I loved it when everybody played everybody twice. As they said, "One True Champion".

I think he was correct with it being an outlier for HOW bad it was. Have definitely relied on Tahlia, but have had just enough help in previous games to get over the hump.

Not last night.

The previous games were against bad teams (yes that includes your vaunted Duke squad)
Baylor is going to need to find other scorers when the competition picks up. The capable teams will dare anyone but Scott to beat them

That was good team we played. Many think they are under ranked, currently.

We didn't just spit the bit, offensively, we stuck in the starting gate, caught up, then keeled over in the backstretch and let ourselves be trampled. And still we lost by only 5 points.

This team needs to get home, rest up, have a few easy games at home that allow us the practice time to work on our weaknesses, and shake off a little mental and physical fatigue.

Hopefully, the offense rounds in to shape. Coach is getting players in position to take THEIR shots. Just need to get comfortable and knock them down, even under pressure.

I believe that's likely, but need to start seeing improvement. If not, long, difficult road ahead.

The B12 is really bad outside of ISU, BU, TCU, WV imo. Okie St just got their fraud check last night. League play will allow Bu to round into form nicely. Cincy, UCF, Houston, BYU, Both Kansas teams are all pretty bad from what I've seen. I haven't watched either AZ school but I'd guess both are rebuilding?

Hopefully tomorrow is a bounce back win. Then before the Texas game in Dallas there are easier games on the schedule. There are opportunities to work on ourselves.

I want to know why she wears the number 0 jersey? That was Odyssey Sim's number which was retired.

I think it has something to do with honoring the player, but not actually retiring the jersey, which kind of defeats the purpose, imo.

When it comes to Baylor jerseys, three should truly be retired, and not worn again:

0
33
42

I know in some places, the jersey is "retired", but with the permission of the "retiree", it is used again. But I think your assessment is likely to be the case.
