Can anyone give an insight into when we may know about Taliah's injury and prospects for return?

After watching the replay in game it didn't look that bad. In WBB we constantly see players go down with twisted ankles and then return, often in that game. Though it looked like it turned worse than normal. The fact that she didn't return is concerning, though I could see it just being a precaution.

Of course I don't have any actual expertise this area. So we'll see... Would be curious to hear what others think about this too...

Looked very similar to Napheesa Collier's ankle injury/twist in the WNBA playoffs. Like, almost identical.

Collier was in a boot and basically getting around on a scooter the next game (which was when Phoenix eliminated them).

Since their season ended shortly afterwards, I'm not sure how long it took Collier to actually recover.

At the time it was reported, Collier's injury was classified as a Grade 2 ligament/muscle tear, and her expected recovery time was roughly 6 weeks.

We better hope Scott's injury looked worse than it was, because that would keep her out until February at the earliest.

Maybe we'll get some good news, however, and she'll only be out a couple of weeks.

Not a medical expert, but just using Collier's injury/recovery timeline as something to go off of.

Even if only a few weeks, it is a bad few weeks. The start of our conference schedule was hard enough with having to quickly play both OSU and ISU on the road with no return trips to Waco for those teams. It will be really tough to win if she can't play. If she doesn't play, someone else will pick up some of the scoring slack as they will be taking shots instead of her taking the shots, but her not being there probably takes 10-15 points off our total.

The longer we don't hear anything, the more indication to me that it is more serious and further evaluation is having to be done. Hope I am wrong. It seems every year in WBB, at least for us, it is not an if, but a matter of when will a key member of the team go down.

I know that some of the top teams have lost players from time to time, but they generally are deep enough to be able to fill in without too much drop-off. We just don't have the healthy depth that would be wanted. Heck, we even get people out of the portal that get hurt before they even play in a game or shortly thereafter.

WBB injury news never seems to leak. I assume we'll learn more in Collen's presser before Southern.

VanGytenbeek just can't work for open shots against good defenders. It's a Buggs/Fontleroy deal for a few weeks now.

I think Deng and M. Johnson will have to step up as well. Both have decent shot creation skills.

I don't see Bella as a great shot creator outside of the occasional dribble drive. Am I wrong?

I agree. Someone else needs to create the shot, then she can finish. Needs to be a role player on offense.

Doesn't look like there's Media Availability today. I would guess we don't learn more about Taliah's injury until the Southern radio pregame show.

Yes, that will be the deal. Fontleroy can defend, rebound, and if she could get 10 points, that would be great.

Point spread for today's game is -28.5... Is Taliah playing baked into that? I'm not sure tbh

Hopefully not like one of Kim's players years ago. We never got any word on what was going on until after the season. I believe her name was Wilson (?) who was a very good player. But we kept getting "day-to-day" out of Kim. The player never returned.

It may be more than is being let on. "Day-to-day" begs to say that perhaps she will play today or tomorrow.....but not to even be on the bench? I get it, Mulkey did the same thing, and I believe Drew has done it as well. You want to keep your opponents guessing (especially if the player is in a boot), but many times when listed "day-to-day", that "day" never comes.

In that specific case she was pregnant, Kevin Rogers on the mens team was the father.

Yea, Wilson is a bad example. If you want an accurate comparison that was pretty much Kim lying (or strategizing) by making sure other teams were preparing for her) that would be Blackman during the NCAAs the year before we won it all (the year we lost to TN in the Sweet 16). That was a day to day, but if you spoke to her at any of the donor events, she would say that she was done. Always dressed out. Never saw the court. Became a really good rebounder for shooting practice though.

Injury report shows Taliiah as "questionable" against Tech, which NCAA defines as a 50% chance to play. Even if she doesn't end up playing, this is a hopeful sign.

Glad I was wrong about the day-to-day. Hopefully she didn't tweak it too much today and will be ready for the OSU game. We are a completely different team without her, but these last two games have allowed Deng to shine.....just wish she could have made that last shot. It would have made a merrier Christmas had she done so. Hate to have to stew on the loss for 10 days with no opportunity to do anything about it.

Sometimes the "agony of defeat" is more intense than the "thrill of victory".
