Paige is amazing.

We held their interior to nothing.

I've been a Mulkey fan since she arrived, but putting Didi back in was one of her worst coaching mistakes.

She was hobbled.

Also, Jordan Oliver has been so consistent and a scorer.

Am afraid we'll lose her to the portal.

Look at that photo. It wasn't even a close call. She got fouled by both of them and #3 hit her in the face and bodied her to the ground. Total BS. What a gutsy performance. Not a very good look on last possession but she should've been on the line to win it. This stings.

Looking at the replay, they probably didn't call it because Carrington was slihtly falling away instead of goingbinto contact. It was still a foul nonetheless.

Hoping that this isn't the start of another Elite 8 hump; I had a strong confidence in the fact that we would bring home a NC. I'm spoiled, but wanted a second NC ring for Didi and this group of ladies.

I think this group overachieved. Terrible seeding as this was really the NC game and barring some odd injury I think everyone knows that. I'm not shocked that we played this game close (and probably do win if didi doesn't get hurt) but I don't think we are near as talented at UConn is right now.

I think many of you will agree with me that if DiDi Richards didn't get injured, the Baylor Lady Bears would have defeated the UConn Huskies tonight.
Without a doubt. There would have been no 19-0 run for them and we would have kept the lead or at least kept it close enough to retake and finish strong.

Oh well. Great season. After the first part of the season, I didn't think this team was any better than a Sweet 16 team but they kept plugging and plugging and they go out in an Elite 8 game that should have been in the Final 4. So, disappointed tonight but feel like it was a very good season overall compared to what I thought it was gonna be earlier.

Off to the Men's board.

Thanks Dijonai and Didi and Trinity and Moon! Hope you return but if you don't, MANY THANKS for the way you represented Baylor.

Well said.

Sarah Andrews will be better as well, need Gusters to shed a few pounds and get into game shape, we'll be back soon.

oh and we'll have our own Paige in 2 years with Sammie

They missed a summer session this past summer! They are going to get better! Maryam Dauda is going to be a better offensive player than queen! We are stacked with guards and posts

That is the advantage that UCONN has playing in a much weaker conference. Our ladies have to go super hard and physical game in and game out. UCONN schedules a few tough OOC opponents in-between their games. There conference is the equivalent of us playing Tech and Kansas every game. Less stress on the bodies and allows players to rest their muscles a bit. I've said it from the beginning, but there lack of many serious injuries has to do with their build up. But yes, we've had several injuries that have derailed us, many times actually. Will be interesting to see how the rosters end up for everyone next year. We might loose a few players for no other reason than our depth, but UCONN, Stanford and SC are going to be strong next year. As Mulkey always says - this is why you play the game.

Or we should spend more than 3 mins a night building our bench. Kim's a dance with who brung you kind of coach but talk about not having some ready behind your starter. OUCH.

Big picture - the Selection Committee needs to work on their seeding - this would have been one hell of a NC game that would have grown the sport - wouldn't surprise me if UCONN heads to the NC by a 20 point margin on Friday.

For a league that needs big matches, they screwed this up having it in the Elite 8.

To quote Kim," we've created monsters". As fans we expect to win but we should not stab the one who got us here.

She's right. Fans begin to expect to never lose which is a ridiculous expectation. UConn is really good, they are more talented and we went toe to toe to the final whistle missing one of the best defenders in the game.

I just don't understand how your best offensive player was a spectator in large parts of the 4th quarter? If I didn't follow this team, I would have thought that Carrington was the Baylor go-to offensive player based on the offense running
through her the entire 4th quarter. Nothing against Carrington, b/c she is a gamer, but isn't Smith objectively Baylor's best offensive option?

That's what I was suggesting.

That's not what you said, in any way! If you want to say something positive about Lyss, do it without dumping on a young woman who busted her butt, and left it all on the court!!

Sure it was. Appreciate her effort. She would just be more effective by distributing the ball a little more. She shoots at too low of a percentage at too high a volume. It's nothing against her as a person.

I'll take your word that it's not personal, and I'm not trying to pick a fight, but here's exactly what you said:

" And Carrington costs them... again."

And that's what I took exception to.

Ododa owned Egbo all night, Smith was just stuffed, Moon was to sacred to shoot a three despite being open on at least 4 occasions, DiDi was on the bench, The only one who put on her big girl panties was Carrington...I would have gone to her too....She should have been on the line with a chance to tie or win with a made and one.

The current game between Indiana and Arizona is the most irrelevant late-tourney game played since Syracuse and Washington met in the 2016 FF to see who got the right to lose to UConn by 30+ in the finals.

She should have had a chance to tie with 1-1 from the line or win with hitting both. We were down one at the time, not two.

Well as usual I agree with you on your take on Carrington but just disagree about Ododo owing Egbo 9 rebounds and 8 points for Egbo 3 pts and 8 rebounds for Ododo Smith was struggling to post up either Edwards or Ododo but she owned them when she faced up...Moon just was not hitting her normal % but she was stepping up and taking the shots as the presented themselves...they had a lot of size on perimeter and that bothered her from deep but she could get by them and get her mid range shot all night...

If you watch the last play, if Egbo had boxed out Williams, she would've had the rebound and putback or foul! Too many times this year, Egbo or smith don't box out and rely heavily on their athleticism

Really happy for our men but we were totally screwed. I hate that for our team. I hate that Didi was injured. This passive play is Queen Egbo in a nutshell.

If Bickle was in that position, she hip checks Williams. Grab the loose ball and puts it off the glass.

Oh, what could have been.

She's great, no doubt. But during the 19-0 run, she got too many open looks. When Coach finally put Carrington on her (which she should have done with a TO somewhere during the run), I don't think she scored again.

Not picking on you specifically but all these folks whining about no timeouts during 19-0 run do realize there was a break between 3rd and 4th quarters? UCONNN only scored 16 pts in each of last two quarters. The run was during end of Third beginning of 4th.

Its was not the points or rebounds that Ododa had it was the BLOCKs that intimidated Queen and her beating Queen to the block on transitions blocking out Queen from offensive rebounds and putbacks but mostly it was Queen forcing up bad shots into double teams instead of passing out and reset the offense..

Written about our dear leader, Ms. Gahaes (Mulkey), from a Boneyard Contributor:

Dear Kim,
I know it is hard to lose a close game to arch rival Uconn. Your team is vey talented, and plays super hard. But, you didn't lose because of the last shot taken by your team not being called a foul. Here is a list of 10 reasons Baylor lost that make more sense than blaming the refs for a non call.

1. Your team missed 40 shots. FORTY. Your guys missed 39 other shots before the last one.
2. Your defense allowed Paige to score 28 points. Hold her to 25 and you win.
3. Carrington, your "go to scorer", was 2-12 in the 2nd half including 0-4 from three range.
4. UConn shot 8-17 from deep. That is 47% from a team that hit only 35% all season.
5. Your team missed 7 of 20 free throws. Make 3 freebies and win.
6. Baylor made only 2 threes all game and missed 7.
7. Normally, your rebounding advantage is 19 per game. Against the Huskies, it was only 2 rebounds. (41-39)
8. Your team had 10 shots blocked by UConn's Ono, Edwards and Griffin.
9. Your guys scored 24 points in the 1st period and only 28 in the whole 2nd half.
10. Starting with 2 minutes left in the 3rd period, and running about 5 minutes of game time, your team gave up 19 straight points and scored 0.

UConn scored 69 points on 43.3% shooting. Give them credit for playing hard and with determination. Each of the items listed above contributed more to your defeat than the last shot your team took. Deal with it, give credit and be mature.

Go Huskies..!!
